Got the push from the ASJA conference this weekend to FOLLOW UP - ALWAYS. Did that yesterday with a 6-week old query to a big alumni magazine for a profile on one of their alums who's someone I happen to know. Got the assignment today! And they said, Thanks for thinking of us! And I'd never written a profile when I sent the query (have done one since though).
Most money I've ever gotten (.50/word though I hear alum mags pay even better once you're in), very generous deadline (late June) and I LOVE the person I'm profiling. HOW COOL IS THIS?

Also - it will pay for my expenses for the conference!
