Post scenes you didn't like because of flaws.

In Superman II, a snake bites the female girl from Krypton, she expresses pain, and then lights up the snake with her heat vision. Uhhh ... you're just like superman, right? Superman, who stands there and barely feels bullets hitting him? The snakes fangs should've broke off, and she'd have barely felt it.

Huge swathes of Braveheart. I mean he got the Princess of Wales preggers? When she was a) about 11 and b) not yet married to the Prince and c) iirc wasn't even in the country? *slaps forehead* Historical films should be at least vaguely accurate.

Any scene where Christopher Reeve was Superman. :D

War of the Worlds. ***spoiler*** The entire world is in shambles, people living like animals, fighting each other, military being wiped out, and yet Tom Cruise gets to Boston and his wife's neighborhood is relatively unscathed. WTF? And his son is inexplicably alive. And they hug as if they like each other.

??? I thnk we need a acronym dictionary here.

Timeline: They're zapped to medieval England and there's no language barrier? Even with the French princess? *boggles* At least in the book Crichton used subliminal learning to give them basic phrases.

Why is Samual Jackson taking a murder witness to LA for a trial when the murder was committed in Hawaii? The trial would take place in Hawaii. Although it seems silly to nitpick the thing that was that movie.

They could have asked for a venue change. The case was too high profile in the entire state of Hawaii.

Renting THAT movie was a waste of four bucks.

In Jet Li's The One, when the cops take his wife home from the hospital, it's dark, 5 minutes later when she looks out her bedroom window, it's full daylight!

In Star Trek 4, when Scotty goes to give the molecular matrix of transparent aluminum, he thinks the keyboard is "quaint." Then proceeds to type a bejillion words a minute on the thing. No typing class, no using a qwerty keyboard everyday for decades, yet he can type super fast.

Revenge of the Nerds, Gilbert is showing his eventual girlfriend, how good computers are. He begins typing on a monochrome monitor, and without an inkling of text showing up on the screen, this animation appears! A caricature of the two of them, walking side by side. All developed within a matter of seconds!

I watched Funny Games last night and got stuck on a scene where one of the two nice young men turns on the television to watch a NASCAR race at Talladega. The race is finishing up in the late afternoon hours. Moments later one of them looks at his watch and notes that it is close to midnight, which would have meant it would have been 11 p.m. in Talladega.

I focus on this when you've got a family being tortured by two psychos! Makes me think I may have an undiagnosed emotional issue...

War of the Worlds - the electromagnetic pulse which famously knocks out everything but camcorders.

X-Men 3 - Magneto starts moving the Golden Gate Bridge in the daytime and doesn't reach his destination till well after dark, giving the military no time to, you know, blow them out of the air from a safe distance.

(Remember that I love The Goonies)

(And this is not a mistake, it was bending reality by the filmmakers)

Mikey and the rest of the Goonies hop on their bikes to go find "the rich stuff" with pirate's map in hand. They ride through town, stop by the side of the road and locate the Big Rocks, which Mikey verfies by holding the doubloon up and lining the rocks and lighthouse through the holes. The big rock is "Haystack Rock," a famous monolith, the third tallest in the world. (See wikipedia entry)

Well, the problem is that Haystack Rock is located in Cannon Beach, 25 miles south of Astoria. It took us about 45 minutes to drive there from Astoria. (See this Yahoo map)

It would have taken them all day to ride their bikes there. The filmmakers bent reality to make viewers think Haystack Rock is in Astoria.

BUT! in a deleted scene on the DVD, Mikey and friends stop in a store and Mikey looks at a map and says the big rock was in Cannon Beach. The map he looks at clearly showed the distance between Astoria and Cannon Beach. That's probably one reason why the scene was cut from the movie.

I just rewatched Braveheart again the other night. AWESOME film but, yeah ... I agree with you completey on the Princess of Wales thing. Unnecessary.

The other historical film that really grates my nerves in terms of accuracy... TROY. Briseis falling in love with Achilles? Killing Agamemnon in the end? They gave her role far to much leniency for my liking. I get the big screen romance angle--but they were already working with the "most romantic story of all time" with Helen and Paris. They did not need to throw Briseis in there solely to make out with Brad Pitt.

I thought it just knocked out cars. Trains, boats, radio, and things were still working, weren't they?

I noticed this sitting in the theater, the second the camcorder still worked. It was supposed to be all electronic equipment. Yet somehow, this camcorder miraculously functioned. Somebody wasn't paying attention that day.

I'm a nitpicker from way back when my daughter had head lice at the age of five. So I'm wondering, if more than one person is expected to respond, shouldn't this discussion be called, Nitpickers' Thread? ;)

You're right; my bad. I should have written 'the emp that leaves alone camcorders while knocking out every other electrical appliance in a given area'. However, the film's IMDB entry tells me 'It's a special Hollywood EMP that disables only the electronic equipment that the filmmakers want it to. While "technically" it's a factual mistake that, for instance, the camcorder is still working, it was clearly a deliberate decision by the filmmakers. We also only have a TV reporter's word for it that it's an "EMP" anyway, so it could be an alien weapon of which we know nothing.'

Also would like to add Margaret O'Brien's changing shoe color during 'Under the Bamboo Tree' in 'Meet Me in St. Louis'.

I thought it just knocked out cars. Trains, boats, radio, and things were still working, weren't they?

in the movie Casino

Robert Dinero catches a cheater. THe cheater is taken to a back room and held against a table. A security guard has one of the cheater's arm stretched out.

In that scene, the security guard's hand and the cheater's arm magically changes position 3 times as the camera pans back and forth.

didn't catch it until the second time I saw the movie. It's pretty blatant.

Twister --so many it actually drives me nuts to watch it. Even the grass in the opening scene is a do-over and replayed so it moves the exact same way twice...and its not even subtle.

Crap, dont know why I cant think of more right now....there are tons I have picked up along the eons watching movies.

As far as Goonies goes..they leave Mikey's house in the morning and arrive at the lighthouse mid-late afternoon....that seems pretty accurate to me. Not a lot of time passes between the time they go into the restaurant, Brand arrives and then they end up in the tunnel.
When Chunk goes for help its dark out and when they are having the argument as to where they should go its dinner time since Chunk complains he is hungry and wants to go home. --Also a Goonies fan obviously :p

Maybe . . . . but can you see Chunk pedaling his little bicycle for 25 miles?

I couldn't even do that.

The unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of
Doomsday - On the whole fairly believable (with little stretches).
Apart from the final car chase. The MCs are in a NEW Bentley Continental GT and yet they're caught by a ramshackle collection of 20-year old rust-buckets seemingly held together with tape and hope.
