A Blog Carnival is where a group of bloggers all blog on the same topic at the same time. Each blogger naturally has their own take on the topic, which makes it more interesting and fun to participate in.
How to participate:
---------
If you want to have the link to the donate button in your signature, just copy everything inside the html tag:
and then, when you're trying to add it to your signature, switch editor mode so it shows the BBCode (the stuff with the [ and ]), then paste it in. That should take care of it.
-------
If you want to add the donate button to your blog, copy everything inside the code tags:
And paste it wherever you want it.
Two caveats. At least.
If you're posting the code into a blog entry, you'll need to be in HTML view to do it. Otherwise, it'll just end up looking funky.
If you're on a hosted blog, such as on the Blogspot, WordPress, TypePad, LiveJournal, MySpace blogging sites, then you won't necessarily be able to post it into the blog post itself. You might be limited to posting it into a sidebar. Sites like that limit how and where scripts can be used to prevent malicious code from infiltrating their servers.
How to participate:
- Blog about the Authors Advocate Legal Fund. Include a link to the Author Advocates Legal Defense Fund page where people can donate. The blog carnival starts NOW and continues for one week from the date of this posting. Some people have already done their post in support of the Author Advocates Legal Defense Fund, mostly because I'm slow to get things going sometimes, so please, post that permalink. You're just a mindreader and proactive and we love you! But remember to keep it civil. Don't make any personal attacks - they won't help anyone and may bring you unwanted legal action. Stress the need to donate to the legal defense fund.
- Post in this thread with the permalink to that post on your blog. While a blog address will look something like http://joeschmoe.blogspot.com, a permalink will look something like http://joeschmoe.blogspot.com/2008/07/author-advocate-defense-fund.html. We need that long link.
- I will compile a list of all the participants and their permalink URLs in this thread, hence the need for the permalink. I don't know how many people will participate in this blog carnival, but I honestly don't want to chase down who knows how many permalinks. So, please, be kind, and provide the permalink.
- When the blog carnival is over, post the URL list either at the end of that same post or in another post. This will give everyone who participated some massive link love, which will, in turn, help with search engine rankings and the like. And that is always good. Please complete this within three days of the blog carnival ending.
- When the blog carnival is over, post a comment on the five blog entries after yours on that same list. That just gives a bit more love cuz, you know, we all love comments. If you're at the end of the list, then start counting again at the top of the list until you have your five. Please get your comments done within three days of the blog carnival ending.
- If you have a question or five, ASK!
- If you have a suggestion for a future blog carnival topic, whether concerning the Author Advocates Legal Defense Fund or another related topic or an unrelated topic, please suggest away. Or feel free to start the blog carnival yourself or, if you feel shy, you can always ask me or someone else to start it.

- The Top Twenty Worst Agents list where Barbara Bauer appears. Victoria Strauss has requested that the list not be copied as a. the preamble to the list is vital so that readers understand it in context and b. because it's updated regularly, so it's best to see the updated list on the site itself.

- If you have another relevant link to add to this list, please post it in this thread and I'll add it.

If you want to have the link to the donate button in your signature, just copy everything inside the html tag:
HTML:
