I have found that free press release services work just fine in most cases. Unless your book is highly focused on something hot in the media now, I have not been able to justify the cost of these paid services. If your book is the one in your sig. line, then it might be worth it - but try the free ones first and see what kind of response you get.

Thanks Flash, I shall investigate those links. The book is now available from my website, I am waiting on ISBN'd copies before it goes through the distribution channels like Amazon, etc. So now I am on my publicity and marketing learning curve.

Good luck Manny, as you are most likely starting to learn, the publicity and marketing side is often just as involved/difficult as the writing end.

Manny: I'm now heavily promoting my book for its release by Bookmasters in late July. Right now, I'm creating a press release and my web site for a "behind-the-scenes" narrative non-fiction about Pro Beach Volleyball. Maybe we can help each other out!
