I've used a plastic pocket comb. But then again, I don't play very well with a standard flat-pick, either.

Whenever a bank or credit card expires and I'm cutting it up before throwing it away, I trim the lower right corner into a pick, e.g.
Even tho' I can't play guitar worth a damn, at least people know I have a credit card!
...Or I stole someone else's. Whatever, dude.

Update: daughter has cut out all picks from a CD now, cleaned and sanded one so far, with another not far from completion. Love the way it catches the light.
