Book lovers beware!

Barnes and Noble has changed their refund policy. In a pilot program that affects four states including New York and California, the bookseller will begin accepting refunds ONLY with a receipt and ONLY within 14 days of the original purchase.

If you have ever gotten a book you hated for your birthday, you know what a pain this will be!

The pilot program goes national in October!

I get a sucky book as a gift and I can exchange it for one I like, that's cool with me. I don't need a refund.

I assume they'll be doing the "gift receipt" as well.

And even if I do get stuck with a book I hate, that's why god invented re-gifting!

Maybe you should post the email addresses of your relatives who buy you cr@ppy books and we'll petition them to have better taste instead.

I'm joking.

I don't really care what your relatives buy you. :wag:

I think it's reasonable since I'm sure there are plenty of speed readers out there who finish the book then return it saying, "I got it as a gift and it's not my style."

I think they should make the policy even more restrictive.

I'll write them and tell them that.
