This thought was inspired by kimmi's post on the Goals and Accomplishments board. Dream agents, dream editors, why not dream casts?

I've had a hell of a time picturing either of my two main characters, but there's a hellfire Hollywood diva in my novel that I wrote with Christina Applegate in mind. Its hard to play it dumb AND be funny, and she'd totally nailed it.

Maria Callas. And hey, she's got plenty of experience playing her on stage and on screen, soo...

Huh. I think my male MC would be played by someone I recently met, a friend of a friend. LOL. I'm pretty sure he's an actor. And, now that I met him, I kinda assigned him the role in my own head. At least visually.

My 15 year old teen MC will necessitate a nationwide talent search -- can't think of any young actor I'd put in the role. Ditto his female sidekick.

Viggo Mortensen will play the teen MC's father.

Katee Sackoff will play the female lead, in quite a different role from Starbuck. But she's got the look and the angsting ability. Though Kate Winslet would also be nice.

The antagonist will be Jason Isaacs, no substitutions allowed.

Alan Rickman will play the mysterious Mr. Geldman.

Jeff Bridges will be the inimitable Joe-Jack.

We'll also need Andy Serkis in the major role of the slimy squirmy monster.

Still working on casting Nyarlathotep in his humaniform avatar. Anyone know any beautiful, ageless, rather androgynous Egyptian actors?

Are there any websites with lots and lots of photos of actors so I can pick the candidates most suited to the images I have in my head?

And then, ideally, from that narrowed-down pool I'd pick the ones best at acting.

IMDB ain't gonna cut it...

Well, since my MC is patterned after me, the actor would have to be incredibly good looking, muscular and buff, and of course, extremely witty.

Offhand, I can't thing of anyone worthy of that.

In my first manuscript, I envisioned Heath Ledger as I wrote about the MC, Dylan, . Strangely, Dylan dies in the book.

All right. It would appear that my MC is Seth Green--that's the best I can do.

Haven't found the right actress for the female lead. This is a lot of work ;)

I have the best Seth Green story.

I used to work on a show for adult swim (he has a show on the same network) so we'd end up at a lot of the same parties. I was at the bar at one of these, trying to order a drink and there's this kid in front of me. I'm thinking "Who the hell brought a kid to Mood?" So I start to order my drink over the kid's head... he looks up at me and its Seth Green.

Now, I'm 5'2" and I was wearing platform sandals. But I was a full head taller than him.

Maybe I can get away with some camera tricks...

Or just use a cast of short people - worked in The Italian Job - Statham, Mark Wahlberg, Seth Green... I mean, seirously, how they managed to shoot it to look like Marky Mark and Charlize Theron were the same height is totally beyond me.

Mine would be animated so nobody big named would play my MC, since she doesn't have a voice that I can imagine coming from anyone I know, but I'd like Graham Greene (the actor) to do the voice of my character Glooskap. As soon as I started writing that character that was the voice that promptly popped into my head.

I wouldn't mind Adam Beach showing up to do a voice either! He would be good for my character Cheengwun.

Despite talking for about a solid hour about this once, no one could ever come up with a good idea for who plays my MC. However, we worked out some of the other characters...

Dorian Gray would be played by Christian Bale, with longish hair, but doing the Howl voice, rather than the Batman voice...

Agent Taylor - Kurt Russell, since he can pull of tough, intimidating and emotionless all at the same time.

Mr Jenkins - (pretty much a bit part, the MC's landlord) - Dean Stockwell - I just had him in mind when I wrote the character.

I think Kevin Spacey would play Jeff Cormier and Candace Bergen, now that she's put on a little weight, would play Kitty Morse.

The little Breslin girl would play the corpse.

I'm so out of it. I need to watch more movies starring teenagers.

Wait... We were talking about The Golden Compass in another thread and I totally think that girl is gonna be perfect in three to five years. She's gotta keep those curls though. So yeah... Dakota Blue Richards. I win. :D

Julianne Moore or Cate Blanchett as the protagonist. As the male lead, maybe Ewan McGregor if he can do a 19th century Massachusetts accent?

The villain is a tough one, because he's an actual historical person whose photograph has been widely reproduced. Maybe Daniel Day-Lewis if he can do the accent. I think that for his lady friend (also an actual historical person, but not someone whose photograph many people have seen), maybe Selma Blair?

For the male in all of my novels, it would have to be Jean Reno, of course.

For the females in each of them: One would be Samantha Fox, ex page 3 girl, she would fit the bill perfectly for one of the novels and its sequel.
I'm not sure about the other two though. One of them has to look like an ex model; with pale green eyes and strawberry blonde hair. It's a shame that Bridgitte Bardot is so old, as she was beautiful and would have went well in this story.

Since I am on a huge Robert Downey Jr. kick right now, I would cast him to play all the males in my book. We'd make good use of make-up, wigs, costume and camera tricks here but he could pull it off, LOL.

I imagine my main female character being played by...oh crap I don't know. Perhaps if I could get a better picture in my head, I could write her better than I have so far.

I'm with TrickyFiction, I don't know all the hip actors these days. I'm having to Google to get an idea... but this is sorta fun.

I can say easily that Sean Connery would play Edward, the druid who first "interviews" the MC, Austin, and later helps him draw out his talents in London:
http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:tEPq1Dd4XTE13M:http://content9.flixster.com/photo/11/02/37/11023727_ori.jpg

Ashton Kutcher (think Butterfly Effect) could be the primary MC, Austin:
http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:aO_IaOPjWs0YqM:http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2006/specials/sma06/scruffysmooth/ashton_kutcher.jpg

Austin's dad - Tommy Lee Jones:
http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:mAplWa2eYEUxiM:http://msnbcmedia3.msn.com/j/ap/9ceff16d-22bc-4c30-96c1-e0b8b22c5e1d.widec.jpg

Natalie Portman would do well as Austin's girlfriend, Kaiya.
http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:0KAHgWvgE8yuDM:http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/54/039_36431~Natalie-Portman-Posters.jpg

Cillian Murphy could be the Dutch hacker, Johan:
http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:POYHyM2WhIJzKM:http://cache.viewimages.com/xc/50834565.jpg%3Fv%3D1%26c%3DViewImages%26k%3D2%26d% 3D17A4AD9FDB9CF19390335F8FA9CA92A6736E33D99865B12A 474FC6B9CADF7309

I think Scarlett Johansson could play Anki (Johan's cohort), as long as she could hold a believable Dutch accent:
http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:Xxg52cjS4tBNwM:http://bethbenderbeauty.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/scarlett-johansson-blog.jpg

Sam Shepherd could play Mac, the NSA agent who goes rogue to protect Austin's girlfriend and to find out what's really going on with Austin's disappearance:
http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:PwWAnoVtPi8F2M:http://www.showbizireland.com/images/stars2/shepard_escapist-04.jpg

I'd love to see Jack Nicholson as the tired/burnt out Group 3 Administrator, or maybe as the retired NSA mentor of Chuck Brodie (Mac's boss)
http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:h6j02XaOuW69kM:http://www.californiarumor.com/files/images/import/JAck%2520Nicholson.jpg
Motley crew, for sure. The only definite on this list is Sean Connery, though. I wrote the character thinking of him. Truth told, if my story ever got picked up for a movie, if asked about casting, I'd likely say, "surprise me". ;)

In Wolf of Whitechapel, the hero could be played by Nathan Fillian (Mal in Firefly) or James Marsden (Cyclops in X-Men). I'd love to see either Gerard Butler or Hugh Jackman playing Jack the Ripper.

I have no idea who'd play anything in Eirinn or whatever title's going to be. I'd have to pay more attention to actors to see who could pull off those roles.

It took me forever to find a single 'maybe', but three tries in, I think I finally have a decent idea for my MC. The only problem being... I know her work from a while ago, and have no idea if she still looks simular. My MC would, perhaps, be Mila Kunis. (Jackie from 'That 70's Show' for those (like myself) not familiar with the name)

My second try was a new actress who I saw do a skit on a parody show, Anjelah Johnson. I'm still ashamed of my first maybe, so I won't bother to mention it. :tongue Fun thread, I enjoyed reading everyone else's answers.

Daniel Franzese who was in Bully. His name means nothing at the box office but he'd be perfect for my MC. Originally, I was thinking of having the MC be handsome but everyone seems to do that and I thought it more interesting if the MC came off more like a regular person. Someone the reader could imagine seeing in the street any day of the week.
