Frisbee tossing????

Richard

You've never tossed a frisbee? It's very good exercise.

Perhaps you'd rather toss down a beer?

cletus

Drinking beer.

Sometimes followed by cookie tossing.

The whole cottage experience. The swimming, the fishing, the novel marathon, the pizza at the country store, the small town where we shop, the lying on the dock at night with my son watching the stars and satellites, the trying not to get clawed to death by my dog when we're swimming together, the forest walks, the canoe trips, the hummingbirds, the hot sunny days and the rainy days, the monopoly on the porch, the bonfire at night, the etc, etc, etc.

The swatting of the mosquitoes, the scratching of the chiggers, the meat tenderizer on the jellyfish stings, the ants crawling all over your lunch, the sea lice, the no-seeums, the hot sticky heat rash.

That's why I drink the beer.

Sitting on the dock at the pond
sharing the dock with my favorite grandson (yes, I have a favorite)
using the remote controlled catamaran with net to skim the pond
holding a beer/glass of wine in the other hand
sitting on the dock reading a book
sitting on the dock dangling my feet in the water
letting the bass nibble my toes
sitting on the dock watching neices and nephews scream and play with bumper boats
sitting on the dock by myself. Laptop ready for inspiration.

I really like my pond. And, I love the dock!

In addition to swimming, sailing, also other types of boating eg. kayak and paddle boat. We are kinda boat sluts.. :) Have one of each. Fishing, baseball games, hiking, fireworks (in July we find them almost every night.) Entertaining outside.

Fresh flowers, veggies and herbs from the garden. And of course soft serve ice cream.. and fairs..

Camping, I love camping in the summer.

Despite the fact I live near some really beautiful beaches, I don't like going to the beach. Too hot, too many people, and I can't swim in the water. I have an "allergy" to cold that makes me break out in hives if I swim in cool water (warm pools only for me). Lake Michigan never gets warm enough for me to swim in. It kind of sucks actually.

When it's really hot and humid out there, I prefer staying at home and watch movies, eat ice cream, and take naps.

If it's nice and cool, I like to go to the water parks. I can swim at the gym any time I want, but I like water parks. I love the slides. Eating hot dogs and ice cream, and ogling.

The thing I WON'T do in the summer is tending my yard and garden. Nope. 5 minutes in the heat I'd be sweating like an ogre in a sauna. The most uncomfortable feeling in the world.

Well, I love gardening, and I love longwalks after I've put away a nice hearty glass of wine so I can have conversations with my MC's while I walk.

I also enjoy bathing the cats in the summer. Their look of disgust on their faces as they sit in that patch of sunlight to dry.... well...you know...

And I LOVE having people over and thinking up new grill recipies to feed them. Of course there is that 1% of the time when the marinade isn't quite as planned...(Habenero-lime pork kabobs with pineapple. BAD IDEA...especially if you are grilling with mesquite.)

And, of course, I love watching Shadow Ferret in his sweet little tank top and those teenie tiny shortie shorts oogling the co-eds.

We love water parks, spend half our summers zipping down swirling vortexes of death and landing in a refreshing pool with limbs miraculously still intact (though one time my bathing suit didn't fair so well). When we had a boat, we would water ski and tube and such. I miss it.

Please, all you AWers who love to grill, come on over. I don't grill (that's Hubby's thing) but I LOVE to eat what other people grill.

I love to take the bus. I don't get to take it very often during the school year.

I'm such a weirdo - I love public transportation and all the weird characters who take the bus!

All the while, I realize she must be thinking, "Curse you and your obsession, jack ass! That really, really hurt you know, and you haven't heard the last from me yet!"

Canoeing and hiking. Long, sticky walks with the dog followed by tick search and destroy sessions.

Picking a warm tomato off the vine and eating it like an apple. Picking berries and making jam. Making an amazing dinner (fusilli with pesto, tomato salad, grilled potatoes) at the cottage from stuff we bought at roadside stands.

Hanging out after dinner in the hot tub, beer in hand, looking up at the Big Dipper.

Biking isn't bad because you've usually got a breeze on you and can "take a break" going downhill or push less on flat land, but running in heat is brutal. Always drink lots of water.

I've not been swimming in years, mostly because I don't know of a nearby pool (or even a lake) where I could do laps. The last triathlon I did was in 2002. I did a bunch of sprints and an international distance tri in the late '90's. Why? Because I could...

Whining about the heat.

Exactly.
Summer is my least favorite season.
I do not like hot weather.
I spend summer looking forward to autumn (my favorite season).
