In tonight's Major League baseball game between the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers, LA shortstop Chin-Lung Hu made it safely to first base on a throwing error. At which point, it could be said with complete factual accuracy, Hu's on first.

There's a well-known snippet from an England/West Indies cricket Test, in which the batsman, Peter Willey, was facing the fearsome fast bowler, Michael Holding. Take it away, commentators:

"The bowler's Holding, the batsman's Willey."

Whoops.

Dating back some forty-odd years now, there's a famous MLB moment when a TV cameraman caught a couple engaged in some fairly serious kissing in the bleachers, and one of the commentators managed: "He's kissing her on the strikes, and she's kissing him on the balls."

A pause, then a brief moment of laughter, cut off by air-silence for a minute or so followed.
