May 26, 2008 -- Japan has solved its transit budget woes - it has a 9-year-old cat "working" as a stationmaster.

Tama wears a conductor's uniform as she patrols the Kishi Station for the Wakayama Electric Railway.

"Tama is the only stationmaster, as we have to reduce personnel costs," said company spokeswoman Keiko Yamaki.

Well if Cats start taking over human jobs.... ya know what that means??? Dogs will be unemployed...
