Wip in my mother tongue means a quick heavy bounce of making love! Basically more sex than love, etc. blah blah, you know. Please drgnlvr, tell us more about your WIP and Ramstein!

Well, not sure what your mother tongue is, but these are the actual lyrics in the original German:

And this is the "Unofficial" translation:

Who in their lifetime is good on Earth
and will become an angel after death
you look to the sky and ask
why can't you see them

First if the clouds have gone to sleep
you can see us in the sky
we are afraid and alone

God knows I don't want to be an angel

They live behind the sunshine
separated from us, infinite expanse
they must cling to the stars (very tightly)
so they won't fall from the sky

First if the clouds have gone to sleep
you can see us in the sky
we are afraid and alone

God knows I don't want to be an angel

First if the clouds have gone to sleep
you can see us in the sky
we are afraid and alone

God knows I don't want to be an angel

The line "God knows I don't want to be an Angel" is an excellent description of Gideon's attitude. He is an angel, of a sort. He was brought here to keep the "balance" between good and evil. Thing is, he was brought here by accident. He's no warrior, but now he has no choice. So he's a "reluctant angel" so-to-speak.

The rest of the song is influential, as well. But that one line really struck me at the time I was coming up with the idea for the story.

Of course, Gideon might be an "angel", but he's not really a "nice" guy.

You have a thing for red shoes, do ya', aspier? I have a thing for red shoes too. I think what you need on there is a real sexy red stiletto.

Speaking of 'red shoes'...Have you ever watched "Red Shoe Diaries"?

Let it Ride

Let It Ride
Bachman-Turner Overdrive

(This is my very favorite BTO song.)

Good Bye, Hard Life
Don't Cry Would you let it ride?
(repeat)

You can't see the mornin', but I can see the light
Ride ride ride let it ride
While you've been out runnin' I've been waitin' half the night
Ride ride ride let it ride

(Chorus)
And would you cry if I told you that I lied and would you say goodbye Or
would you let it ride? And would you cry if I told you that I lied and
would you say goodbye Or would you let it ride?

Babe my life is not complete I never see you smile
Ride ride ride let it ride
Baby you want the forgivin' kind and that's just not my style
Ride ride ride let it ride

Chorus

I've been doin' things worthwhile, you've been bookin' time
Ride ride ride let it ride

Chorus

Would you let it ride (x4)
(Drum)
Ride ride ride let it ride (x5)
Would you let it ride? (x4)
(Instrumental fade.)

Case of you - Joni Mitchell

Just before our love got lost you said
"I am as constant as a northern star"
And I said, "Constant in the darkness
Where's that at?
If you want me I'll be in the bar"

On the back of a cartoon coaster
In the blue TV screen light
I drew a map of Canada
Oh Canada
And I sketched your face on it twice

Oh you are in my blood like holy wine
Oh and you taste so bitter but you taste so sweet
Oh I could drink a case of you
I could drink a case of you darling
Still I'd be on my feet
I'd still be on my feet

Oh I am a lonely painter
I live in a box of paints
I'm frightened by the devil
And I'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid
I remember that time that you told me, you said
"Love is touching souls"
Surely you touched mine
"Cause part of you pours out of me
In these lines from time to time

Oh you are in my blood like holy wine
And you taste so bitter but you taste so sweet
Oh I could drink a case of you
I could drink a case of you darling
Still I'd be on my feet
I'd still be on my feet

I met a woman
She had a mouth like yours
She knew your life
She knew your devils and your deeds
And she said
"Go to him, stay with him if you can
Oh but be prepared to bleed"
Oh but you are in my blood you're my holy wine
Oh and you taste so bitter but you taste so sweet
I could drink a case of you darling
Still I'd be on my feet
Still I'd be on my feet
I'd still be on my feet

This thread's so long that I don't know if this one's been posted already...maybe it has been...hell, maybe I already did...but I just listened to it (again) so, here goes....

Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen (Jeff Buckley version)

Well I heard there was a secret chord
that David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do ya?
Well it goes like this :
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah...

Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya
And she tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah...

(Yeah but) Baby I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor, (You know)
I used to live alone before I knew ya
And I've seen your flag on the marble arch
and love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah...

Well there was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me do ya
But remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah

Hallelujah...

[Guitar Instrumental]

Maybe there's a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya
And it's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelu...
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelu...
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah

Hallellllluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuujjjaahhhh...Hallelllluuuuuujjaaaaaaaaaahhhh

Hurt - Nine Inch Nails version

Sorry, ya'll, been feelin' the angry music lately...

HURT
I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that’s real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
I wear my crown of s**t
On my liar’s chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stain of time
The feeling disappears
You are someone else
I am still right here
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

This one, too, also on the "Downward Spiral" CD:

RUINER
You had all of them on your side, didn’t you?
You believe in all your lies, didn’t you?
The ruiner’s got a lot to prove he’s got nothing to lose and now he made you believe
The ruiner’s your only friend well he’s the living end to the cattle he deceives
The raping of the innocent you know the ruiner ruins everything he sees
Now the only pure thing left in my f**king world is wearing your disease
How did you get so big?
How did you get so strong?
How did you get so hard?
How did you get so long?
You had to give them all a sign, didn’t you?
You had to covet what was mine, didn’t you?
The ruiner’s a collector he’s an infector serving his s**t to his flies
Maybe there will come a day when those that you keep blind will suddenly realize
Maybe it’s a part of me you took to a place I hoped it would never go
And maybe that f**ked me up so much more than you’ll ever know
How did you get so big?
How did you get so strong?
How did you get so hard?
How did you get so long?
What you gave to me
My perfect ring of scars
You know I can see what you really are
You didn’t hurt me nothing can hurt me
You didn’t hurt me nothing can stop me now

Angry (and content to be so, for the time being)...

I listened to The Glass Prison by Dream Theater in the car on my way to work tonight.

I. REFLECTION

Cunning, Baffling, Powerful
Been beaten to a pulp
Vigorous, Irresistable
Sick and tired and laid low
Dominating, Invincible
Black-out, loss of control
Overwhelming, Unquenchable
I'm powerless, have to let go

I can't escape it
It leaves me frail and worn
Can no longer take it
Senses tattered and torn

Hopeless surrender
Obsession's got me beat
Losing the will to live
Admitting complete defeat

Fatal Descent
Spinning around
I've gone too far
To turn back round

Desperate attempt
Stop the progression
At any length
Lift this obsession

Crawling to my glass prison
A place where no one knows
My secret lonely world begins

So much safer here
A place where I can go
To forget about my daily sins

Life here in my glass prison
A place I once called home
Fall in nocturnal bliss again

Chasing a long lost friend
I no longer can control
Just waiting for this hopelessness to end

II. RESTORATION

Run - fast from the wreckage of the past
A shattered glass prison wall behind me
Fight - past walking through the ashes
A distant oasis before me

Cry - desperate crawling on my knees
Begging God to please stop the insanity
Help me - I'm trying to believe
Stop wallowing in my own self pity

"We've been waiting for you my friend
The writing's been on the wall
All it takes is a little faith
You know you're the same as us all"

Help me - I can't break out this prison all alone
Save me - I'm drowning and I'm hopeless on my own
Heal me - I can't restore my sanity alone

Enter the door
Desperate
Fighting no more
Help me restore
To my sanity
At this temple of hope

I need to learn
Teach me how
Sorrow to burn
Help me return
To humanity
I'll be fearless and thorough
To enter this temple of hope

Believe
Transcend the pain
Living the life
Humility
Opened my eyes
This new odyssey
Of rigorous honesty

Serenity
I never knew
Soundness of mind
Helped me to find
Courage to change
All the things that I can

"We'll help you perform this miracle
But you must set your past free
You dug the hole, but you can't bury your soul
Open your mind and you'll see"

Help me - I can't break out this prison all alone
Save me - I'm drowning and I'm hopeless on my own
Heal me - I can't restore my sanity alone

III. REVELATION

Way off in the distance I saw a door
I tried to open
I tried forcing with all of my will and still
The door wouldn't open

Unable to trust in my faith
I turned and walked away
I looked around, felt a chill in the air
Took my will and turned it over

The glass prison which once held me is now gone
A long lost fortress
Armed only with liberty
And the key of my willingness

Fell down on my knees and prayed
"Thy will be done"
I turned around, saw a light shining through
The door was wide open

Like A Stone

"Like A Stone"
by Audioslave - one of my favorites...

On a cobweb afternoon
In a room full of emptiness
By a freeway I confess
I was lost in the pages
Of a book full of death
Reading how we'll die alone
If we're good we'll lay to rest
Anywhere we want to go

[Chorus]
In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there
Like a stone I'll wait for you there
Alone

On my deathbed I will pray
To the gods and thee angels
Like a pagan to anyone
Who will take me to heaven
To a place I recall
I was there so long ago
The sky was bruised
The wine was bled
And there you led me on

[Chorus]
In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there
Like a stone I'll wait for you there
Alone Alone

And on I read
Until the day was gone
And I sat in regret
Of all the things I've done
For all that I've blessed
And all that I've wronged
In dreams until my death
I will wander on

[Chorus]
In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there
Like a stone I'll wait for

Du Hast ~ Rammstein (Original German)

Du
du hast
du hast mich
du hast mich gefragt
du hast mich gefragt, und ich hab nichts gesagt

Willst du bis der Tod euch scheidet
treu ihr sein für alle Tage

Nein

Willst du bis zum Tod, der scheide
sie lieben auch in schlechten Tagen

Nein

Translated into English

You
you have *
you have me
you have asked me
you have asked me and I have said nothing

Do you want, until death seperates you,
to be faithful to her for all days

No

Do you want, until death, which would seperate, **
to love her, even in bad days

No

Some explaination, found at Herzelid.com (I don't speak German, I'm afraid, but I love the music!)

* When Till is just saying "Du hast," it sounds as if he could either be saying "Du hast" (you have) or "Du hasst" (you hate). This is to give the song a double meaning, even though the official lyrics say "Du hast."

** There is another sort of double meaning here. If the line is read as "Tod der Scheide" it would be "until the death of the vagina" and not "until death, which would seperate" ("Tod, der scheide"). The whole song is a play on German wedding vows (Wollen Sie einander lieben und achten und die Treue halten bis dass der Tod euch scheidet? - Do you want to love and respect each other and to remain faithful, until death seperates you?). Instead of answering with "Ja," Till says "Nein," finally answering the question he said nothing to in the beginning.

Edit: Ooooh! This is my 666th post.

Do I win a prize?

Nutopia
(Meg Lee Chin)

Jesus said " Lay down your arms, Jesus said "Children come home"

I saw the best minds of my generation running on empty, Superglued to the T.V.,

Dreaming of prosperity, Talking incessantly, Saying nothing

Sleeping on platforms at train stations, Sipping chemical cocktails,

Alive to the Universe, Dead to the World.

Hallucinating delusions of media reality in Camden Town, Desperate in the pursuit of cool

He's in a suit, she's in a straight jacket, 7-11 nightmares at 3am and the moon is quiet and holy.

Watch all the bridges collide, Well I think we might have to lay low, for a while

I saw the best minds of my generation caught up in the virtual reality of living

Memorizing pin numbers and secret codes,

Swaying robotically to non-existant rhythms, Flashing memberships to clubs so exclusive nobody belongs,

Jesus said " Lay down your arms" Jesus said "Children come home"

Scared shitless, witless, clueless, useless, tightlipped, tightfisted, tightassed, half-assed

Sniveling, groveling, moaning, groaning Sniveling, groveling, moaning, groaning sniveling, groveling, sniveling, groveling

The city's all wrapped up in plastic like an electronic cocoon.

If you lay in the street you can hear it humming, Building up slowly from underground

If you close your eyes you can observe the blueprint The man-made dna that spirals breathlessly out of control,

As synapses collapse, bridges snap, into a restless utopia, Nutopia

Now the rain has arrived and I think we might have to lay low

Watch all the bridges collide and I think we might have to lay low.

Double shot

Love the classics. Talking Heads' Psycho Killer and David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust. The memories just roll in.

Psycho Killer

I can't seem to face up to the facts
I'm tense and nervous and I can't relax
I can't sleep 'cause my bed's on fire
Don't touch me I'm a real live wire

Psycho Killer
Qu'est-ce que c'est?
Fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa far far better
Run run run run run run run away
Psycho Killer
Qu'est-ce que c'est?
Fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa far far better
Run run run run run run run away

You start a conversation you can't even finish it.
You're talkin' a lot, but you're not sayin' anything.
When I have nothing to say, my lips are sealed.
Say nothing once, why say it again?

Psycho Killer,
Qu'est-ce que c'est?
Fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa far far better
Run run run run run run run away
Psycho Killer
Qu'est-ce que c'est?
Fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa far far better
Run run run run run run run away

Ce que j'ai fait ce soir la-Ce qu'elle a dit ce soir la Realisant mon espoir,
Je me lance vers la gloire... Ok
We are vain and we are blind
I hate people when they're not polite

Psycho Killer,
Qu'est-ce que c'est?
Fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa far far better
Run run run run run run run away
Psycho Killer,
Qu'est-ce que c'est?
Fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa far far better
Run run run run run run run away

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh...

Ziggy Stardust

Ziggy played guitar, jammin' good with Weird and Gilly,
The spiders from Mars, he played it left hand
But made it too far
Became the special man, then we were Ziggy's band

Ziggy really sang, screwed up eyes and screwed down hairdo
Like some cat from Japan, he could lick 'em by smiling
He could leave 'em to hang
Came on so loaded man, well hung and snow white tan

So where were the spiders while the fly tried th break our balls
Just a beer light to guide us
So we bitched about his fans and should we crush his sweet hands?

Ziggy played for time, jiving us that we was voodoo
The kids was just crass. He was the nazz
With God given ***
He took it all too far, but boy could he play guitar

Making love with his ego, Ziggy sucked up into his mind
Like a leper messiah
When the kids had killed the man I had to break up the band

Ziggy Played Guitar

I can't listen to Pink Floyd's "Wish you were here." My brother was a major PF fan, and a guitar player. He was killed in a car accident, age 29, while on the road with his band.

"Wish you were here" was played at a benefit held in his memory.

It's been 9 years, and I still can't listen to the song.

I had a hard time, for a while , listening to Joan Osborne's "What is God was one of us?" because my brother, in our last phone conversation, 3 days before he was killed, told me to get that album .....how excellent it was. I did become a Joan Osborne fan, buy all of her past and present works, and saw her in concert once.

And, then there was my brother's own music, which was pretty hard to listen to. You can imagine how pathetic I looked, when, weeks after his funeral, friends would find me sitting in the parking lot outside of work, listening to his tape and saying "Oh - listen to this part...........".

Unfortunately, the song going through my mind right now, is.......A whole new world - the theme song from Aladin - sung by Peabo Bryson.

GEEZ.

Did I mention I used to know Peabo casually, when I lived in Atlanta in 1986?

Probably not. It hardly ever comes up in conversation.

Eulogy
(Tool)

He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say.
We'll miss him.

So long.
We wish you well.
You told us how you weren't afraid to die.
Well then, so long.
Don't cry.
Or feel too down.
Not all martyrs see divinity.
But at least you tried.

Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud.
We'll miss him.
Ranting and pointing his finger
At everything but his heart.
We'll miss him.

No way to recall
What it was that you had said to me,
Like I care at all.

So loud.
You sure could yell.
You took a stand on every little thing
And so loud.

Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice so strong and loud and I
Swallowed his facade cuz I'm so
Eager to identify with
Someone above the ground,
Someone who seemed to feel the same,
Someone prepared to lead the way, with
Someone who would die for me.

Will you? Will you now?
Would you die for me?
Don't you f*ckin lie.

Don't you step out of line.
Don't you f*ckin lie.

You've claimed all this time that you would die for me.
Why then are you so surprised when you hear your own eulogy?

You had alot to say.
You had alot of nothing to say.

Come down.
Get off your f*ckin cross.
We need the f*ckin space to nail the next fool martyr.

To ascend you must die.
You must be crucified
For your sins and your lies.
Goodbye...

Bullet the Blue Sky

U2 - from the Joshua Tree (LP, no less.....)

In the howling wind comes a stinging rain
See it driving nails into souls on the tree of pain
From the firefly, a red orange glow
See the face of fear running scared in the valley below

Bullet the blue sky
Bullet the blue

In the locust wind comes a rattle and hum
Jacob wrestled the angel and the angel was overcome
Plan a demon seed, you raise a flower of fire
See them burning crosses, see the flames, higher and higher

Bullet the blue sky
Bullet the blue

Suit and tie comes up to me
His face red
Like a rose on a thorn bush
Like all the colours of a royal flush

And he's peeling off those dollar bills
(Slapping them down), one hundred, two hundred,
And I can hear those fighter planes
And I can hear those fighrter planes
Across the mud huts as the children sleep
Through the alleys of a quiet city street
Up the staircase to the first floor
We turn the key and slowly unlock the door
A man breates deep into saxophone
Through the walls we hear the city groan
Outside is America
Outside is America

Bob Seger ~ Jody Girl

Jody girl, Jody girl, spend your time today
Watching clocks spin the hours away.
Jody girl, you know the world’s
Goin’ around all day,

Thinking back, thinkin' back...
to the things he used to say.
Didn’t he put you on a pedestal,
When first you met?

Sure was some honeymoon,
Ain’t it hard to forget?
What ever happened to that crazy boy
With the love light in his eyes?

Used to bring you flowers every day.
Now you sit here on a cloudy afternoon
Watchin’ a soap opera on t.v.
Your old man’s workin’
And your kids are out playin’
Little girl...
you’re not feelin’ too free.

Keep thinkin’ back, thinkin’ back to high school,
Them high school days.
All those wild, wild times you had.
All the boy friends, boy friends knockin’ on your door.

Jody girl, Jody girl,
Spend your time today
Watchin’ clocks spin the hours away.
Jody girl, you know the world’s
Goin’ by all day.

Thinkin’ back to before you promised to stay.
Didn’t he put you on a pedestal
When first you met?
Sure was some honeymoon -
Ain’t it hard to forget?

Knoxville Girl
(Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds)

I met a little girl in Knoxville
A town we all know well
And every sunday evening
In her home I'd dwell
We went to take an evening walk
About a mile from town
I picked a stick up off the ground
And I knocked that fair girl down

She fell down on her bended knees
For mercy she did cry
"Oh Willy, dear, don't kill me yet
I'm unprepared to die"
She never spoke another word
I only beat her more
Until the ground around me
With her blood did flow

I took her by her golden curls
And I dragged her 'round and 'round
Throwing her into the river
That flows from Knoxville town
Go down, go down, you Knoxville girl
With your dark and roving eyes
Go down, go down, you Knoxville girl
You can never be my bride

I started back to Knoxville
Got there about midnight
My mother, she was worried
She woke up in a fright
Saying, "Dear son, what have you done
To bloody up your clothes?"
I told my anxious mother
That I was bleeding in my nose

I called for me a candle
And I called for me a bed
And I called for me a handkerchief
To bind my aching head
I rolled and thrashed the whole night through
All horrors I did see
The devil stood at the foot of my bed
Pointing his finger at me

They carried me down to Knoxville
And put me in a cell
My friends all tried to get me out
But none could grow my bail
I'm here to waste my life away
Down in this dirty old jail
Because I murdered that Knoxville girl
The girl I loved so well
