Universal Soldier by Buffy St. Marie - I was hoping to download it so I could play it for my ESL student. I was unable to do so though because only people in the U.S. are allowed to do so though Real MUsic or Rhapsody. It seems odd, particularly because Buffy St. Marie is Canadian.

My younger son and I ate dinner at the restaurant my daughter waits tables at earlier this evening. When we went to the cash register to pay, Holli came up and gave me a hug goodbye, and this song started playing on the jukebox. There were a few people milling around at the front of the restaurant that kind of blocked the rest of the people from seeing us, so we sort of slow-fast danced for a while until Ryan said, "Dad, um. People are watching. Can we go now?" And yes, our human privacy wall had wandered off, and about 75 people were staring at us and smiling.

So I'm sitting at the stop light on the drive home today, radio blasting while I'm groovin' with this song, and I glance at the mini-van beside me and notice an extremely nice mommy singing along with the same song. She gives me this apologetic smile and flashes the gargantuan rock on her finger, which is so big I can actually discern the individual facets from where I am. So I stick out my bottom lip like a toddler denied a cookie, and she gives me the "Awww!" look. Whatever, sweetheart. You know you want it.
