MSN is running a 10-question military myths quiz today that is both entertaining and informative:

http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/departments/elementary/?page=Quiz76&Quizid=76&GT1=27004

I scored 9 of 10 correct. And the one I missed is one I thought for sure I had correct. Can you beat me?

Tied. :)

Which one did you miss? I'll tell if you do!

9 out of 10

Question 9 was a toss up for me (without Google, anyway).

9. I thought more US soldiers died than actually did.

I got them right, but my Dad was a WWII vet - we are a military family, so we were taught those things. Also, I'm old enough to actually remember some of them...

Teacher's pet. :P

And that's the one I missed, OFG. For the same reason.

I thought I didn't know enough American history but was surprised I got 10 out of 10. But I admit I was lucky -- I guessed right the "casualty" one.

9. I thought more US soldiers died than actually did.

I did the same exact thing. 9 out of 10 and overestimated the number who died.

I got the casualty figure only because I remembered it from the Ken Burns documentary. I did miss another though; I won't tell you which because it was so stupid and I thought it was a trick question..

I always thought Hitler was a Republican.

10 out of 10. Shocked I was, and the number of casualties I guessed.

The title was totally misleading, though.

It wasn't a World War II quiz .. it was a quiz about the USA with a World War II flavour.

Whoops, I thought fewer Americans died than really did. Oh well, 9/10 isn't bad.

I can't believe it, I got 10/10! I am maybe not as stupid as I thought I was.

10/10.

But I know how to play the evil propagandists' game. Only three of them were actually true.

7 out of 10, but I have never been up on my WWII history

also, I knew that 400k died in the war, but the way it was worded I thought that maybe only 295k of them were American...I thought they were trying to trip us up on that one.

9/10 I got the which city was bombed on this date wrong.

Same. Wasn't sure if it was Hiroshima or Nagasaki. I went for the less obvious answer.

And I was wrong.

I got 9/10 and I'm not even American! :)

I got the casualties wrong, but I only knew the figure for Brits so I guessed.
