Vinegar helps, but it will make you stink. Sunblock is your friend.

A soft and distant hug. Lots of aspirin. Lots of fluids. Shower as hot as you can stand it. Followed by long contemplation before you lay down, because you KNOW it's going to hurt too much to move once you get horizontal, then Aloe Vera rub and a very lightweight cotton blanket.

I am the Lobster that rose from the Water Park, you see. More than once. (Might be the red hair and lack of common sense.)

At risk of sounding like an old grandpa: After your sunburn heals, please don't get another one. They are so very harmful, but you won't know it for several decades.

A bath as hot as you can stand it, then vinegar. The heat brings the burn up to the top of the skin and the vinegar helps take the sting out.

I'll repeat the warning - use suncream and cover up, but even then don't stay out in the middle of the day. I've been cursed with cheap, Pommie skin so I've had more than my fair share of skin cancers which have had to be frozen or cut out and I can assure you it is not nice. So play it cool in the sun and head for the shade.
