How about Johnny Panic and the Bible of Dreams? (perhaps her best work.)

Looks like it, but for anyone who has not read Johnny Panic...now is the time to suggest it. It really kicks. (I mean the short story itself) It seems so real. I could picture myself doing that. In fact it's pretty scary because I bought into it so thoroughly. The character makes you forget that your not reading your own words. I want to get my hands on the character's bible of dreams too. I bet that kicks *ss. Maybe I could hide under my desk one late night and read it. Sylvia! Are you out there baby?!

I voted for Johnny Panic. I don't anything about the author, so I went with a intriguing title.

I've heard about the Bell Jar, I'd like to read it and it's been on my list for years. Didn't vote, though, because I don't know if I can make the commitment yet, so I didn't think it'd be fair. Curious to see what everyone else comes up with, though!

Is this poll ending this evening? I'll have to run out and get The Bell Jar.

Actually, maybe Borders isn't so evil. The Bell Jar was on a display table near the front door. There's hope yet!

I seem to remember it is possible to subtract points, isn't it? ;)

Don't think it's likely to happen, though!

I'm hoping to get out today and get The Bell Jar, and I'm hoping I'm able to read it in the allotted time for this discussion.

By the way, what is the allotted time? Did we set a date to have the book read and begin discussion?

I've got to get a move on; wouldn't look very good if the generator of this thread idea doesn't make the deadline. :)

Um, I think we should allow two weeks for reading time. This way, people with busy RL schedules will still be able to participate. Just a thought. Should we do another poll, or just leave the time line up to the Queen Horror Bee?

I've already begun the re-reading. Man, I love this book! Are we going to have ongoing discussions while we read?

Sounds good! (Actually I made a typo and meant this thread, not really the forum, oops!) I was just curious since y'all are discussing Sylvia, one of my favorites. :) But what you said does sound like my cup of tea. :)
