Today, I was flipping through my new Writer's Digest that came in the mail and there was an article: 101 Best Web Sites for Writers and AbsoluteWrite.com was listed!!! It was the FIRST one under the category "Jobs" and it had this under it: "Do you need freelance work? Stay in the loop with this site's two newsletters: One lists agents looking for writers, while the other has guidelines, jobs for writers and calls for submissions." CONGRATULATIONS JENNA!!!

Crap. And I thought the servers were overworked before.

Ah, well. If everyone knows about it, it won't be so cool anymore. Guess this means I have to take my black beret somewhere else.

Okay, I might as well ask. Was Anotherealm or Preditors & Editors (tm) listed? They listed us as P&E two years ago and as Anotherealm last year.

Yep! Sure did. Under "Publishing Resources" it says:

www.anotherealm.com/prededitors
Preditors and Editors looks out for writers, game designers and artists and uses its site to help you find legit agents, publishers and contests.

They like us! They really like us!

That's way cool, thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention.

I picked up Writer's Market yesterday and bought it at Hastings. One I needed to find an agent and publisher and two because I saw Jenna listed in the TOC under Popular Magazines how to break in.

COOL!

:hooray: Thanks, EG and all! I didn't pick up the issue yet. Did I have an article in this one? (If so, they send me a copy.)

I'm buying it this weekend! I really need to subscribe to it again! I did a few years ago, but my writing career wasn't much at that point, so I didn't really get into it. Now I need it! ;)

To add to the fun -- yesterday I picked up a copy of the Writer's Ultimate Resource Guide from Writer's Digest, and on page 22 in the article: Get Published! 101 Best Tips, there's a quote (#53) from our very own Jenna!

You rock, girl!

The new issue of Writer's Digest is pretty good. Lots of info I could use from the 101 Best Web Sites. AW is top web site in my book!:Hail:

Article about Keys to Short Story Success was a good one, and Writiing Habits of the World's Most Successful Authors gave me hope.

Here's the quote, Jenna:
If you don't have a bio and clips to die for, major magazine editors aren't likely to trust you with a long feature assignment right away. Instead, aim for the short articles in the front of the magazine and stay on the lookout for appropriate ideas you can flesh out in a few hundred words or fewer.

-- Jenna Glatzer, freelance writer (September 2004 WD)
It's just so cool seeing the name of someone you know in a mag like that!

I went to B&N this weekend to pick up a copy, and then realized that the May 2005 issues wasn't released to newsstands and stores yet, so I have to wait until the weekend to get it (it comes out tomorrow). After this I'm subscribing again. I used to, a few years ago, but it's only recently that I've gotten more serious about writing, and I'm sure it'll come in handy. :)
