Donated by our very own Maryn,

Maryn’s Caramel Corn

Home-made caramel-coated popcorn with your choice of peanuts, almonds, or bite-sized chunks of a broken beer bottle. (Brown and colorless glass only; green discontinued.)*

Fresh canola oil-popped popcorn, real butter, and dark brown sugar slow-bake, stirred every ten minutes, into Maryn’s Caramel Corn, a rich blend of candy-like decadence with health-friendly popcorn and protein from nuts. Add a glass of water and you can write for hours fueled by this stuff, as long as you lick your fingers after every handful.

The winning bidder will receive approximately 2 quarts of caramel corn with nuts, wrapped in plastic as soon as it’s cool enough, then packaged and shipped via US mail within 24 hours of preparation. (Same day is likely but not guaranteed.)

Starting bid of $12 includes mailing within the US. Caramel corn ships very well, so why not send some to your kid at college, a far-away AW friend, or a soldier overseas? I believe the previous buyers will vouch that the stuff's addictive.

Maryn, whose family calls this “Hardcob Cornography”

* For goodness’ sake, it’s a joke. We still drink both Heineken and Woodchuck.

So there you are folks. Bidding starts at $12, please bid in increments of $1. Bidding closes at 6 p.m. Sunday, CST.

Bidding begins, um, now! Don't let this one pass you by!

Who will give me $30??????I won't.

I'll give you $40 (plus the extra freight for crossing the watery bit).

I'll also bless the exchange-rate fairy :)

I consider Bmwhtly's bid a testimonial--he's eaten this stuff before. If I remember right, which is not a sure thing, he and another bidder split a batch, with almonds.

Oh, and another big selling point: since this will be eaten by people who are not my family, I wash my hands with soap and everything before touching it. Woo-hoo, huh?

he's eaten this stuff before.
Entirely.
In fact I've eaten an entire bag of it (within 8 seconds of opening the bag)

As tempting as it to lie so that I win :D, I'm compelled to tell the truth.
I can't make popcorn like that, and I don't know how she does it.

It's delicious!

I have $40 from Ben W!

Did I read that right? Clean hands? That's worth another $5!

$45? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Maryn

Tell you what.

If we get two bids totaling $100, I'll make two batches. Full batch for each bidder, shipped at my expense to the US, Canada, or Europe. That's a hundred bucks for AW.

Maryn is amazing! Clean hands and two batches! What say you folks?

Anyone want to pony up $50 for some awesome caramel corn and a good cause?

Maryn

And you'll wash your hands for both batches, right? :DOh, probably not. The winning bidders will have to guess who got the clean hands.

Maryn, kidding (Or is she?)

Can I send cash in an envelope? If my spouse catches me, I could be in big trouble :)

soleary

If I can send cash somewhere, count me in for $50!!! I LOVE AW!!!!

Ol' Fashioned Girl
05-10-2008, 01:52 AM
If you win, I'd sincerely suggest a money order, made out to AW and sent directly to Mac - no cash in envelopes through the mail! Soccer can get you the address at the proper time.

Money Orders are good. :) Yay!

Maryn
05-10-2008, 04:29 PM
I've sent checks directly to Mac a few times, and apparently she gets them. Money orders are cheap, and far more secure than cash in an envelope.

Maryn, who needs to buy almonds or peanuts as the winners prefer

hints: Some special jewelry and a fancy, unique keyboard. ;)

<-----jealous!

Maryn
06-10-2008, 01:55 AM
And now the bad news. The second package, sent within the US, arrived today, June 9. It was shipped at the same time as the other one, May 20. If soleary acts oddly in the next few days, we'll assume I've poisoned her.

Anyway, this experience should be something to keep in mind when we offer anything edible for auction. Some of the items I'd have considered (cookies, bread) would no longer have been edible by this time.

Maryn, mad at the PO

I just heard today that soleary got hers and says it's the best ever.

It actually reached the UK before Texas. Hunh. Makes no sense.
