Yeah, you didn't write this thread title in all caps. Excellent improvement.

As for Schweitzer, I don't suppose he meant it continuously. Only on bad days when someone cut him off in traffic. But of course it's true, and he was spot on. Except when he wasn't. Except for all the times we're being noble or kind or innovative or generous or exercising forethought.

Good analysis, except about traffic -
... not much of that when he lived in Africa.
