I've been to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, in Oakland. Mmmmmm. I don't think, however, that I'd want to join anyone in a hot tub after that. Maybe before.

Timing is. Everything.

Where do you think the bubbles in Ray's hot tub come from?

Eek! :faint:

Okay, someone hand me a towel, I'm getting out.

Poppy

I'll join ya, Ray. By the way, you have a little something on ya...I think it's some chocolate left from last night.

I was thinking about going to Hattiesburg today, to the Books-A-Million there, but there are tornado watches and warnings being issued all over the place down here. Maybe I better stay home.

One of my most peaceful moments ever was in a hot tub in my friend's back yard, attached to the house and somewhat protected by greenery and a roof.

'Mr. Maryn' was gravely ill at the time. People don't know what to say or how to help you at such times, but Betty did. The kids and I shared a simple family dinner. Afterward, Betty suggested I relax while they took care of all the kids.

Sitting in the steaming water watching it snow hard, straight down, in absolute stillness... Closest to serenity I've ever been.

Of course, Ray's hot tub is going to be a while different thing now--but remember me next winter!

['Mr. Maryn' recovered, BTW. Whew!]

Maryn, who belongs in a tub of some sort right now

Maryn, come in and join us. I promise I'll behave (I can't guarantee the others though).

One of my favorate things to do is to sit in a hot tub when it's cold outside, and watch the sun rise. I've done that a few times. It's really peaceful. I also like to sit in the hot tub at night, and watch the stars above me. Really soothing.

I'm in. I hope this helps my back pain. Must relax.

Poppy

I've never been in a hot tub before. I don't even know anyone (in person) who has one.

That's okay, I'll always have Ray's virtual hot tub.

Actually, I've gone to Roscoe and wasn't too impressed. I guess fried chicken and waffles just aren't my kind of food combination.

Give me chocolate and whipped cream every day.

Poppy

Oh, are you?

wurdwise
04-06-2005, 06:31 PM
Poppy, you absolutely MUST get in a real hot tub. There is nothing else like it, it's better than sex, (well, maybe I'm going a little overboard with that, I guess it's according to how old you are.) Anyway, put an ad in the paper, "Seeking a new friend. The only requirement is that you have a hot tub!":D

Poppy
04-06-2005, 06:58 PM
Ray, do you have a hot tub? If so, can I come over?

Poppy
04-06-2005, 10:31 PM
Never heard of it. What is it exactly?

Maryn
04-06-2005, 11:20 PM
Oh, is Cuddles & Bubbles the one on Cape Cod? (Hyannis, perhaps?) Mr. Maryn and I got very drunk in a Jacuzzi-hot tub there, so blasted that we didn't fight over angles in the round bed.

Poppy, if I'm thinking of the right one, it's just a motel in which every room has such a tub. We've stayed in others that do--lots of places have a few rooms with a tub (sometimes in addition to the ordinary tub in the bathroom), sometimes in the most awkward, afterthought-y places. (You can see the TV from the tub, but not the bed or sofa?) Next time you travel, poke around online and maybe you can stay someplace that offers one. (You can get all the flaky skin off your legs and feet, too!)

Maryn, hoping that last part wasn't too gross

Geez, if you're absolutely going to behave, where's the adventure?

We talk about adding a hot tub, but I think it's in the same league as building a woodworking shop or a room over the garage--somebody's got to want it a lot more than anybody actually does. Luckily, I can just drop in at your place! (I won't scritch at the dead skin on my feet, I promise!)

At first I thought this was called 'Ray's love of House Party.' Oh well.

Poppy
04-07-2005, 12:28 AM
Oh dear, if I keep talking about this subject, y'all are gonna laugh your asses off about how ignorant I am and have solid evidence that I don't get out much.

Hey Ray, read me some more poetry, would ya?

Poppy

It sure is quiet here.

Can I call your cheesecake?

Maryn
04-07-2005, 05:30 PM
Yeah, Os, I was thinking the same thing. I give a serious and thoughtful reply on writing, I get one rep point if I'm lucky. I come on as some hottie and flirt and get many more. Soon as I figure out how to PM nekkid pix, I expect to have quite the reputation. (Of course the pix won't be of me [shudder], but nobody'll know that.)

Maryn

Ooops, Poppy, I think our secret's out.

p.s. I won't be around much later today (it's gonna be a long day/night) but come on in and make yourself at home. Party! I'll leave the hot tub on (would someone make sure it's CLEAN? No hanky panky -- yeah, right, who am I kidding?), snacks and drinks at the bar, chocolate and strawberries and whipped cream in the fridge. There's the pool if someone wants to take a dip. Now, no cannonball, okay? don't want anyone to get hurt.

Behave, but not too much. ;)

Maryn
04-07-2005, 11:21 PM
I read "Behave, but not too much" as a license to behave badly!

OK, I know I said I was here before and then I ended up leaving. I just came back from the car dealership. :box: I love dealing with those people. I took my 1994 GMC Sierra (rust bucket) that is running and told them they'll also get my dead 1998 GMC Jimmy when I have it towed in. Tomorrow I will come home with a brand spanking new truck. I'm happy. It's a great Midnight Blue color.

I'm going to eat dinner in a few minutes, but I'll be back later. Hope everyone is still ready to party.

Joanne, congrats!

Sara, I just got back from the set. It was an early day (I got up at 5 a.m.) but it went fine. It was lots of fun but lots of waiting around as well. But now I 'm done for the day. Weee!

I've been enjoying the beautiful weather outside today. Of course, now I am paying for it. My allergies are really acting up now. I live in an area known as the Pine Belt, which means lots of pine trees and pollen.

Plus, my shoulder and knee are bothering me some. I fell yesterday and as a result, I'm stiff and sore today. Make room in the hot tub.

Know what's funny about all the Pennsylvania talk? I have some online friends on another board, and several of them will be getting together in Pittsburgh in a week and a half. They're going to the Pittsburgh Comicon. I'd love to go, but it's not even a remote possibility right now. If I could, it'd be cool though because I could get together with them and with some of you. :)

04-11-2005, 09:29 PM
I've never met any of my online friends in person before. Main reason being, they all live too far away. I rarely encounter another Mississippian in my online travels, but I come across folks from Alabama or Louisiana sometimes.

Sarita
04-11-2005, 09:32 PM
Good point! Basically, I knew that Joanne and Ray both lived in Pittsburgh. I'm not that far away, only 2 1/2 hours or so and I'm in the city pretty often visiting friends, hair appointments, blah blah blah. When I found out that a friend of mine was moving out west and we were going to Pittsburgh for a few days, I PM'ed the kids to see if they could get together for lunch or coffee. Ray was a bum and couldn't make it, but Joanne and I had a great time. We were both very relieved to find that the other wasn't a 50 year old man with a 200 lb beer gut and a gun. ;) Ahhh, the security of meeting in a VERY public restaurant. :)

I think we'll do it again the next time I'm down that way, it was really fun.

That is totally cool that you two met! And by the way, it's good to see what people really look like. I have some of me on my computer, but they were all too big to put in my profile. I will get my husband to scan one and make it smaller so I can show myself to you, soon, grasshopper. Not that I'm a movie star or anything, but I know I like to put a face with a name.

jdkiggins
04-11-2005, 09:47 PM
Yes, we were relieved. When Sara suggested meeting at a coffee shop or restaurant, I knew immediately she was a "she". LOL It also told me that she and I think alike. I make all my first time meeting arrangements in public places. We did have a great time talking.

I think we both would have loved to have more time to spend. The few hours wasn't enough. We probably could have talked for a few days before running out of things to say. :)

Thanks again, Sara, for PMing me to let me know you would be in the area. I haven't been out like that for a long time. I did have a great time.

Hmmm...not sure how far we are from there, but I know that we're only about an hour or so from Belmont. Belmont is sooo tiny but has the coolest old bed and breakfast. It's just over the state line from Alabama. Do you know where that is? I'll have to drag out the maps. :)

Really, Poppy? Meeting can be so much fun! In fact, my husband and I met online! :) Long story, but we were friends for several years, and then fell in love.

We used to be moderators for am IRC chatroom, and had yearly chatter get-togethers where people would fly in from all over the country. A few of our chatter friends were also in our wedding party.

A few Houstonian writers I know from various boards are all planning to get together for coffee later this month, and I am so excited!

Sara and Joanne, sounds like you two had fun! Wish I could have been there! :)

Congrats Kate!

Nah Sara. It doesn't mean you don't have a life. It means you have much love for AW and just want to show it. ;)

My daughter in Alabama, who was due with her second baby on Sunday, was induced yesterday at noon. The poor child is still in labor! She's calling me every three hours to keep me updated.

WOOOO HOOOOO

I might be a grandma for the second time before the end of the day.:snoopy: :snoopy: :snoopy: :snoopy: :snoopy: :snoopy: :snoopy: :snoopy:

I just broke out the case of Coke and Gingerale if anyone wants one.

Awesome, Joanne!!! Any news? Is the baby here yet? Is it a boy or a girl? I love babies. hehe. :)

And I like your new pic, too! Gotta see about getting mine here, I guess.

Uh, I think I just bonked you recently in another thread. Haven't you had enough bonking for one day?

Is that a real question or are you just teasing?

I go away for a week or so and when I get back I find pure smut has been order of the day in my absence!

Never been in a hot tub, myself. Don't get many in the UK.

So, give me a chance to read the whole thread :Coffee:  and then I'll join you.

Lisa

I thought you were stuttering there for a minute, Sara. Or repeating yourself. Or maybe I was just seeing double. All this computer work does things to my eyes.
Yeah, the computer stuttered for me.

I'm just in a good mood. I just picked up a copy of Woman's World and there on the first page was one of my nature poems! Woo-hoo! That was a nice surprise.

Yay, Kate!! That's fabulous!!! :hooray:
