I'm working on a new novel that features a new york city cab driver as a main character. I've done some research, but there's nothing like talking to the real thing. :D I'd love to have a real cab driver as a resource I can send questions to now and then, or get feedback on scenes and situations involving a taxi driver in NYC.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Karen -

Your best bet would be to call the New York City TLC (taxi and limousine commission) tell them you're doing research, ask for the names of some taxi companies that might be helpful, and prepare for a big phone bill. Locating a New York cabbie directly through AW isn't likely.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Ted. It was a long shot, but I thought I'd try. I did order the book by Melissa Plaut called NEW YORK HACK. It's a memoir based on the blog she kept while working as a taxi driver, so that's going to help a little. I'd just like someone I can call occasionally. But if that can't happen, no big deal. The taxi driving job isn't the main focus of the story.
