Wow.

I am a shiny, shiny jewel.

(Please bear with me as I am a little *sob!* choked up. )

First I would like to thank everyone. Especially those who I shamelessly begged, cajoled and - yes, even threatened for rep points.

It’s odd though. I feel like a veil has been lifted from my eyes. It’s like the sun has just arisen and burned away the fog in my mind.

And for the first time, I believe I can see clearly now.

I look behind me and all I can do is shake my head with a sad half-smile at my own foolishness. I must ask forgiveness of all here. I apologize for all my inane, juvenile and innapropriate posts and humbly ask that you look beyond them to see the new me.

The real me.

No longer will I concoct lewd rhymes or make suggestive comments or act inappropriately.

No longer will I judge my fellow members based on the cuteness of their avatar or their number of blobs or even the sexual undertones of their posts.

No longer will I make flippant and facetious remarks or just toss out whatever comes into my head without considering the sensitivities of the others around me.

No longer will I be a blob-snob, pandering to those with more green and blithely ignoring the struggling members who yearn for more.

I will appreciate each and every one of you for who you are – inside. Even when your posts seem to suggest otherwise - I will only see the goodness. The purity. The true spirit of the writer that resides in each and every soul here.

I will use my power only for good. I will not flaunt it in bars, or at work, or at sporting events; nor will I make photos of it and send it to my relatives for Christmas. Nor will I make it a screensaver so that the radiant light of my jewels may shine upon my home, spreading it’s beneficence throughout.

No. I have seen the light.

I stand here before you all and proudly affirm that I am the New and Improved brokenfingers.

A shiny, shiny jewel…..

But it made me start thinking, I'm a pretty ornery old cuss and a bit mischievious, I wonder, when people start getting more, two, three, four, and good God, five blobs, I would think it would be tempting to say outrageous stuff, almost as a dare, "here, go ahead, bad rep me, beat me, you can't hurt me much, I'm a big blobber. Not that I disagree, but I kinda like the enlightened bit. And we could use an enlightened President, not to mention one who knows how to use words.

One blob

One blobbers, and those who want to be, (you know who you are) yes yes I'm talking about those two and three blobbers who remember the good old days of being unencumbered and free. The young years.

The four and five blobbers who have forgotten the true meaning of the acquisition of blobs. For those who have padded their posts in an unending quest for more and more blobs. Yes, even people who may have instigated entire websites just for the pleasure of the blob. I'm not going to mention any names, Jenna. The days of their blob liberty forever lost.

Man is not measured by blobs alone.

I don't know if I could get my arms around your blobs.

I just offered reph the opportunity to become an honorary member of One Blob Pride despite his over-blobbiness. The offer, of course, holds for you Jenna.

Reph's a she. I do appreciate your kind offer, but I think I'm just going to have to live with my terrible decisions until I find a way to be worthy of one blob again. I know I can do it. All I have to do is figure out a way to individually insult everyone on the board.

I'll start with Reph. Reph, those earrings so make your earlobes look wide.

Yes, Jenna, I believe I was in a quandary with trying to figure out how to do that myself. We will simply have to deal with our blob fate; we don't have it in us to be mean. :)

The funniest thing about all this blob nonsense is that I have never been so popular in the rep points department since I started denouncing the fact of getting them.

I think I have learnt something about the human psyche and/or politics. I think my inevitable demise into two blobbiness is immenient.
Oh well.

Your posts are wittier, your spelling is better, your grammar is clearer and people will generally agree with you more when you begin to use the blobness within you.

It's okay. It's finished now. One Blob Pride is dead. Long Live One Blob Pride!

I logged on to discover a pair of blobs attached to me. So rep me, bonk me treat me like all the other little hussies, nothing means much to me anymore.

The two blob club sounds a bit dinky for someone who has tasted the sweet nectar of an important position at the head of One Blob Pride. I'm not against the idea but will decline any upper management offers and will consider consultancy work only upon a detailed study of the project dossier by my people.

A note of thanks for all those who have supported One Blob Pride through it's short but illustrious evolution and to those of you who abstained from repping me. Your small personal gestures touched not only me but everyone here at One Blob Pride.

With this, I wish you all well in your pursuits of blobbiness. :thankyou:

Take a piece of world weary advice my young friend; look beyond your blobs. Omigod.

To all you one and two-blobbers out there who are hoping to one day become splendid to behold, like me – all I can say is:

Be careful what you ask for – you just might get it.

You wouldn’t believe the things I’ve seen since Jenna shipped me my new Splendid To Behold eyes! The world has truly become a strange and frightening place and now I spend my evenings weeping.

Do you think that’s really Jenna in that avatar photo? Ha!

“Jenna” is really a fifty-three year old retired colonel with an eyepatch, a perpetual 5 o’clock shadow and an advanced degree in Forum Methodology and Cybernetic Intelligence!!

Maestro? A Server modified random-access program designed to flit about and gauge participant emotion and adjust the creativity filters accordingly.

Modified Artificial Existential Server Terminal Robotic Organism. M.A.E.S.T.R.O.

MacAllister? Same thing – only it takes neurosynaptic impulses from every viewing member and collates them into the main feed server to create nightmares for the Horror thread!!

Liam? Server uplink modo for the vast banks of government array servers.

Chunky C? The Mainframe or as they call it – the Big Computer (hence Chunky C!!!)

I’m telling ya - each and every mod here is actually a skillfully programmed writer avatar simulation designed to enslave your mind and suck your creativity right from your eyeballs!

There’s more I want to tell you but I have to watch myself. I think they may be onto me.

Oh, and those mysterious glowing blobs? Here’s a hint – don’t play with yourself in front of ‘em!!

Has anyone seen Oswann lately? Looks kinda funny doesn’t he? They got to him. He’s been fully integrated – he was getting too dangerous.

Oh, one-blobbers - be careful of that which you seek!

Oh, I weep. I weep for the lost innocence of my one-blob days….

Life is crazy when you’re splendid to behold….

People,

We are having a telethon of sorts this morning. I'm calling it the BONK FOR BLOBBAGE TELETHON (BFBT). Jerry would come and host, but he's busy bloating right now. (So I will have to do!)

The ailing one-blobbers of the AW World are crying out for Bonkage. We, the 2+ blobbers are overflowing with wealth. We can spread a little sunshine to these sad little single blobbed sufferers. I beg you to reach into your pockets and bring out your bonking equipment. Yes...I know you can do it. You have heart to bonk the needy.

Let's start with little Wendy here. Let's see if we can give until it hurts. BONK Wendy if you feel generous. You will find her at #163 of this thread. Now go on...do your generous good deed of the day. Wendy needs a new shiny blob. Let's BONK!

 I...I...I admit it! I WANT TWO BLOBS! Can I place myself on this BFBT list? I beg, I plead, I grovel, I... Okay, I don't grovel. :idea:But I do bake chocolate chip cookies and I make a mean lemon cranberry cake! :)

As far as I can pick up - they used to have these blobs at the bottom of each post to indicate how many rps people had. The more rps the more blobs. What happened to that, d'ya think?

underthecity
03-15-2006, 05:02 AM
Yes, we did used to have green "blobs" under our names indicating how much reputation we had. To some of us it didn't make any difference, but there were . . . some . . . whose very existence and sanity hinged on getting as many rep points as quickly as possible. The "bonk" threads sprang up and suddenly nearly everyone had five blobs under their names.

I had one and a half.

Anyway, there were apparently hurt feelings and anger when people weren't getting enough rep points and blobs, and soon the program was eliminated.

And that's the story.

I think when Opti originally wrote the subject line he may have been gazing at his navel, or somewhat below it...

underthecity's right. Many people's widdle feewings were hurt when a thread for bonking (giving unwarranted rep points) rivalled House of Love in size, and all its regular participants amassed points out the wazoo. Meanwhile, people who were not as popular or playful but provided insight and information when they could had hardly any points.

I know because I cwied and cwied, since I wasn't in either group.

The blobs were small green squares. You started with one square and got added squares as your rep points piled up. People went point-crazy chasing the almighty blob. Blobs are still there in some technical sense (mousing at them under the "Posts: ___" line shows how long the row of them is), but they don't show.

brokenfingers
03-15-2006, 05:52 AM
Yes, the blobs are still there under the "Posts" under each members location, but have been rendered invisible. You received a blob for every hundred rep points.

The great fallout and debate about the rep points is here:
