It’s informative; it confirms what I might think of as common sense, then adds reasoning to it. Furthermore, there’s detail that seems obvious once it’s mentioned, but which I might not have thought of, had I, say, gone off to seek publication straightaway.

It’s well-organised, which means the facts are not only clear, but are likely to be easy to recall.
