See, that's what interest me. I love the reader's-view book clubs, but I can't wait to discuss some from a writer's point of view also.

I'd be hesitant to put in too many guidelines at first. I be tempted to let it flow freeform at first and see where it goes.

Hey, you guys took my ideas! <pout>

Some novels come equipped with a section for book clubs with questions and topics for discussion. My copies of Bel Canto and The Good Earth both have a book club section. To make it easier, we could try one of those. Perks can post some of the more interesting discussion topics/questions (for those who don't have them) and we could have at it. (Hope we don't need an invitation, because I think I'm in, provided the book interests me.)

One criteria worth thinking about: the book should be available in paperback format.
It's a great idea, btw, and I look forward to taking part. It's a good idea to have controversial novels; books that people either loved or hated, as we alreday had with The Lovely Bones. That might get some spirited comments!

It depends on the genre, too. It's so much easier and faster to read thriller/suspense than literary fiction.

Not that you guys are putting any pressure on me or anything. Pick one that's not too long, easy to read, but vastly enriching. Make it a paperback and draw up a list of thought-provoking discussion questions. Nothing too heavy. Shun the vapid. Oh, and how about door-to-door delivery while you weren't doing anything else?

Next time I have an idea, I'm going to write it on a little slip of paper and eat it.
