How subjective is the perception of rhythm or flow in prose writing?
I often find myself obsessing over a sentence that seems to clunk for the lack of a single syllable or beat. I will rewrite and reword and reorder until I've achieved the exact sound that my brain is listening for.
Is there a natural rhythm that (the undefinable) everybody responds to, or is my Clunky another man's beautiful music?
