Welcome. Is New Zealand all as beautiful as it looks in the Lord of the Rings movies?

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome.

NZ is an AMAZING place. Alright I will admit we get rain and fog, but we also have spectacular mountains, beaches, fiords, hot pools, geysers, skiing and no snakes. Hard to believe you can find all that in one itty bitty country, right?

P.S. Tepelus is that image from Narnia? Did you know that was filmed here in New Zealand? Yep, we're more than Hobbiton here

They outnumber me 7 to one. I'm kind of scared of the bleaters...

Oh you're an Aussie. You're a fine one for sheep jokes :-)

Sometimes I wish we did have snakes. I like snakes.
I am bitterly disappointed that fire ants have established themselves in the country though. Those things are the worst.

A couple of years ago I read that there are several colonies established around Auckland (particularly near the airport... go figure) and that they weren't very optimistic about getting rid of them. Best bet is to live in the South Island
