Amazon's discounts

I'm about to self-publish my first book through CreateSpace and I'm trying to decide how to price it. If I price it at, say, 12.95, will Amazon call that the "list price" and immediately discount it at something like $8? Or will it actually sell on Amazon for $12.95?

It will sell on Amazon for $12.95. As the publisher, you set the price the book will sell for.

valeriec80 is well-respected
Even if Amazon does discount it, you still get the same cut that you would if it were sold at regular price.

Amazon has never discounted my books, but my kindle books sell for $2.99 and print for $7.99 so maybe that's why?

Barnes & Noble has discounted my paperback books quite often. I don't remember a time Amazon has discounted my paperback books.
