I find the dude who plays Jaqen H'ghar to be QUITE the smexy. Yes,indeedy.
Cersei is getting smashed,I see. I agree that the pressure is getting to her. I adore Arya. Just love her and am a total fangirl for her. Sansa, lawdhammercy. I try with her like I do with her Mama. Really. Love seeing Natalie Dormer again. I really enjoyed her on The Tudors. My hatred for Joffrey is approaching unhealthy levels. The actor who plays him outdoes himself! I just HATE him. Tyrion is my dude forever. He has more sense than his brother and sister combined. |

The guy playing Jaqen H'ghar actually does better than my impression of the character in the books. I think this is a nice addition.

Interesting how they changed the first "life" Jaqen takes back for Arya...
Book stuffs <<<< In the books, I remember the head steward at Harrenhal being the first to go because he treated Arya so poorly. Interesting that they changed that to The Tickler. I recall that Arya is the one who ended up killing the Tickler when the Hound caught her in book 3, that she went nutso on him. So, hmmmm. Interesting change there. >>>> I agree that Jaqen is pretty hot. =) I think they chose very well on that actor. I really liked the scene where Brienne swears her oath to Catelyn and when Davos is trying to tell Stannis what he saw. Stannis really is, imho, Lawful Neutral. Justice for the sake of justice on all matters. Very stern. Still love the character and the actor is really doing a great job. Jon volunteering to go with Halfhand. Love what this is leading up to! I cannot wait to see... >>> The battle of the Blackwater. Ahh! It's going to be so awesome!! <<<< I also agree with Kitty. I love Natalie Dormer. She is an amazing Margaery! I never really cared for Margaery in the books, but, she's a cool character in the series. It makes me want to go back and reread some of this with Natalie Dormer in my head.

Loved the scene where Brienne swore to Cat. Definitely a few changes from the book in Harrenhal, like who Arya wanted dead, as CrastersBabies mentioned. And don't remember Tywin running the place; he was off in the field somewhere. There was some guy. . . I wanna say Bolton. I think it's a good idea they put him there though. Part of me's upset how little time everything's getting. I can see why they're splitting the next book into two seasons. Looking forward to the scene of Danny in the haunted house/Warlock maze/acid trip |

I really enjoyed this episode. It felt like they set up a lot more for future scenes, and moved the plot forward in little ways all over the place. Especially pleased that they went reasonably subtle with setting up of Theon's <SPOILER> the sacking of Winterhold. </SPOILER> I like that little look on his face. Like that they're gradually putting more emphasis on Bran's visions, even if we don't get to actually see them (which makes sense, given how much they already have to cram in).
I still think they should have broken this book into two seasons as well, but I admit I'm not sure where in the book they could break it and have the right sort of epic ending to make it work.

I want to add that I am very happy about the 3 seekers from Qarth.
The actor protraying Xaro Xhoan Daxos may actually make me care for Xaro compared to the slime ball feeling I got in the books. The warlock Pyat Pree, creepy, as he should be. I don't trust him already. And the masked shadowbinder, Quaithe, I almost forgot about her and I liked her in the books. I wonder if we will ever see her face? I hope they don't drag Dani's time in Qarth on and on without some excitement. spoiler>>>It should be interesting when Dani enters the warlocks house of dreams, or whatever it was called.<<<

Aside from the cheesy Renly death, I really found a lot to be excited about in this episode. I *adore* the girl who's playing Brienne. She took my mental image of the character and ground it into the dust beneath the heel of her very sensible shoe. And she totally kicked ass. I also thought the scene between Davos and Stannis was beautifully played--and the expression on Stannis's face once Davos left was such an amazing insight into how his character really felt about the death of his brother. And the young 'un playing Arya is gaining her acting chops--fast. The scene with Tywin Lannister couldn't have been played better by any actress in Hollywood. "Anyone can be killed." A huge moment for her--and then Jaqen's subsequent scene with her elevated the episode even more. Am also looking forward to Margaery's future widowhoods. I think the active choice they made to add some age to the older tier of the young generation was a smart thing to do. Natalie Dormer is oh-so-lovely, and with just the tiniest inflection and a sharpening of her eyes, she transformed Margaery from set dressing to major player in the Game of Thrones.
Over all, therefore, I found a lot to compensate for the decidedly bad special effects with the shadow killer. C'mon HBO--surely you could have afforded more than one 10-year-old CGI artist? Or at least an editor to soothe the fade between actor and green screen. |

I don't think they have cast Roose Bolton for season 2. No announcements or such. Chances are, they'll bring him in for season 3.
Thoth.... on Dany ... >>> I think we have the House of the Undying left, yeah, and that's about it unless they boost Dany's role a bit more. I think she only had a handful of chapters in Clash of Kings anyway. I remember in one interview Emilia Clark was saying that they had to give her a little more to do this season because there wasn't a lot in the books. With 5 episodes left, my guess is that they'll save the House of the Undying for the last since she really Effs things up there, haha. She has to refuse Xaro's proposal (which will probably be next episode), and it also looks like some minor political intrigue with other members of the 13. Is it in season 2 or 3 that she realizes what Jorah has done and tosses him to the curb? Season 3 will definitely pick up for her! <<<<<

Roose Bolton appeared last episode - he was trying to persuade Robb to torture some prisoners. He was quite quiet, so I'm not sure he made much of an impression on most viewers.

Great episode last night. But once again, I had a major clueless moment.
What's Theon's strategy behind attacking another site (near Kings Landing) instead of the fishing villages he was supposed to? It sounded like he wanted to provoke the Starks, but for me there wasn't enough explanation - how is this furthering his father's campaign? From way back up the board, to weigh in on Thoth's question, it seems to me just about every one of the prostitute scenes is gratuitous EXCEPT the awful, awful scene with Ros getting forced by Joffrey to beat the other girl. Totally disturbing to watch, but it showed something more than sex/violence, i.e. how demented and out-of-control Joffrey is becoming. And, I think we should be spared of any sex scene involving Theon.

AyJay,
To answer the question, the village is closer to Winterfell than Kings landing. Put that bit of information together with Bran's dream of the sea sweeping over Winterfell and you'll get an idea of what's to come...

You know, I'm enjoying each episode of Season 2, but frankly it's not as good--imo--as Season 1. I know there's still time, so things may change.
Really though, I don't think the acting--in total--measures up. Cersei in particular has lost something, again imo.

Just wishing there was a smidgen more plot clues in the TV series. I'll have to wait and see how a flood is possible in this world. Unless it's metaphorical, the idea seems to come out of nowhere. (And please let Brienne kill Stannis. Please).

I'm pretty sure it's metaphorical. I see an attack from the sea, riding over Winterfell like a wave. I haven't read the books, so I'm taking this as it goes. And loving it!

spoiler spoilerly spoils.... >>>> I'm one of the readers out there who thought Martin redeemed Theon (or, rather, had his pride and ego completely beaten out of him to the point of pitiful redemption). Reek was one of my favorite POVs in Dance with Dragons and the last chapter I read of his, I admit to shedding a wee lil' tear.... But, Martin's good at taking a character you loathe (i.e. the Kingslayer) and turning things on its head. <<<< Maybe I'm the only one here who was very happy with Theon's full frontal in season 1. Sorry, but he kinda had a nice-looking, uh.... manly part. I like Alfie Allen in general, though. What disturbed me before season 2 came out was that people were actually suggesting that Lily Allen play Asha (Yara). Uhhh.... no words on that.

Remember, almost all the north army is with Rob, in the south, past the neck. Most of those left behind at Winterfell are old, young or not really soldiers...
I suspect>>>they will save the fall of Winterfell to the last episode or near the last episode.<<< It will be a cliffhanger for next season.

Well, since we're discussing it, I admit that as a man I found the fact that he was flaccid rather pulled me out of the story. Anyone familiar with the mechanics would know that upon orgasm the male member does not instaneously deflate. I felt they shouldn't have shown it for that reason alone. It wouldn't have been completely flaccid a moment after orgasm and I said well, obviously they weren't f@#king.
