Where would I post threads about that? I'm really unfamiliar with it as a genre to know where and who to talk about it. My only experience with it is the movie Wild Wild West with Kevin Kline and Will Smith. Is it a subgenre of science fiction?

Some steampunk (see Girl Genius for example) might be considered fantasy, others are definitely alt history which is a sub-genre of SF (forex: Difference Engine)
