I'm more of a lurker than a poster but I'm trying to change that. Usually by the time I get around to work that I read that needs a crit, everybody has already said whats wrong with it which, ya know, feels pretty lame to just say "I agree with x x and x posters about y and v."

Anyways, here I am.

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the 'forum jump' you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. After you post 50 posts you can use the SYW areas to get help there. The password for some of the areas is…..vista. A word to the wise, it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

heya. If you're lurking maybe that means you're writing a lot instead, which would be good news.

Hello!
(And I know exactly what you mean. I'll read a post, know exactly what I want to say, but by the time I get to the last post it has already been said, usually better than I would have said it anyway :) )
See you around

At least you just forgot! I was so intimidated by being around so many writers I put it off until I felt I had something interesting to say, and eventually just gave up and did it anyway. I still feel a bit like the little kid, running behind all the big kids, calling, "Hey, wait for me!"

I think a lot of writers feel that way, even more so when it comes to going to conferences rubbing elbows with some of the best of the 'crop' and even the authors who inspired you to write.

Writers are really promoted fanpersons, we get to do the things we love and call our inspirational authors our colleagues in a sense. Pretty damn awesome if I do say so myself!

My inner dork shows anytime I'm around a successful author. I probably shouldn't admit this, but I've actually written an author a fan letter before lol.

Don’t forget to read the FAQ regarding posting pictures at AW.

Welcome, and I know exactly what you mean too!
On one forum I am a part of (a really small, private one) one of my friends went through every post and posted "I agree" or "I disagree" in reply jut to get his name as most recent poster on them all, and now if I don't have anything to say that hasn't been said I feel like a little* yapping person chasing threads going "I agree! Yay! My name!"
Welcome, again!

*said friend is huge and tough and scares small children until they realise he is just big teddybear who likes to show of. Not sure where I get the little yappy image from!

I hear you. I am a very slow reader and a horrific typist. In fact being unable to touch type is one of my greatest regrets. No need for advice or commiserations on that part, I three finger at a steady 50 words a minute, but only get to see my errors when I lift my eyes to the screen.

So… once I start on a post I finish it, and if others have already beaten me to the punch I can live with it.

A belated welcome to an old member is in order. Welcome!
