Without sounding sexist - I have 3 fantastic crit writing buddies, but they are all woman. I really appreciate my CWBs and wouldn't swap them for the world, but I need a guy too.
Looking for a mature, genuine, brutally honest and trustworthy guy to be my crit writing buddy - to be there from the ground up and though it all. And who is ideally from the US too.
To encourage me and also give me a kick in the butt when I get side tracked or lazy. To bounce ideas off or just discuss general things that may pertain to my story line. And help keep me positive and motivated. In return I'll be there for you - though thick and thin, from the ground up. I love discussing plot ideas and enjoy a challenge.
I write urban fantasy, while I'm writing more for adult - I think that it may still be considered partly YA (if that's possible). I find that I've less restrictions now that I'm aiming more toward adult (based on advice from an agent I met) and certainly having more fun with it. My characters are in their early twenties and upward. I've been told that I'm a descriptive and emotive writer. I do have a bit of talent for writing a little gore, so be warned.
I'm in the process of a rewrite and edit of my last draft. My manuscript is just below 100k at present, but will no doubt change and either increase or decrease. It's the first book of a planned 3 book story. I do have a passion for wolves, so they feature in my story in various forms. As I feel that my chapters are ready and worthy of a crit - I email them to my CWBs. I have a target deadline for the end of this year, to have the ms polished and ready for submissions to agents I have in mind.
In short - different realms (immortal and mortal), a centuries old blood war that has spilled into the mortal world. Main focus on shape-shifters pack of watchers (man, wolf and an in between) that are also a dying race due to a mutated disease. Fey, dragons, other immortal beings and creatures and some very dark spirits (demons) that seduce both mortals and immortals in their hunger for power venture into this story too. A long forgotten ancient prophecy and something else that has been lost though time. Damaging secrets, betrayals and history. A young Alpha with the world on his shoulders about to under go his 'awakening'. A young woman who is unaware of what's hidden within her blood or whom she truly is. Woven into the storyline beside a number of subplots - the struggle of two soul mates and the mortal and immortal threats they face. Main setting is in Northern Wisconsin and has both Native American and supernatural influences.
I don't mind where you are in your writing, as long as you are serious about your writing and others. I love all kinds of fantasy, YA, supernatural, thriller, horror, paranormal, sci-fi and urban fantasy.
Lastly thanks for taking the time to read through the above - if you're interested please PM me - using the same title and we'll take it from there.
