Pucker Factor

Oh gosh, I just thought of something funny. I don’t mean to be crude, but I was thinking if I were ever to publish, what would my friends back at work say? Knowing them, they would probably tell me, “Not much of an exciting job you’ve taken on. Ain’t got no pucker factor in it.”

That’s funny, but when you think about it, the pucker factor could be an all kinds of stories. Thriller, suspense, Mystery, romance; etc.

Just a little tidbit of nonsense.

I've never really thought most writers were the adrenalin junkies that really concerned themselves with "pucker factor." Hemingway aside, of course.

Odd thing to say.

Which orfice are you attempting to pucker?

Orifice?

In the minds of my friends at work, the times we’ve experienced a major malfunction on our system we supported at the JFK Space Center during launch and hazardous operations.

In my case, attempting to put those who would read my first book into the scene of Thriller, suspense, Mystery, romance; etc.
Perhaps a thriller such as Steven King might write.

I’ve experienced the former, and I hope to experience the later.
It begs the question...how a-bout you?

Wow. Um, how does the phase go...

Oh yes.

Eschew surplusage.

What are you talking about exactly?

Pucker Factor is when something exciting is about to happen, like when Thelma and Louise are about to drive off the mesa...what a finish!

G, G, G, I have to know...Do you really care what anyone at work thinks about your writing?

Kiva:

No, no.

They know I can write boring tech documents. They just don’t know yet that I can write interesting books, other than two people.

They know I can write system restore and maintenance documents when the engineering department hasn’t the time to. They also know I had a lot going for me in supporting and restoring those systems. All my work was published there, but that calm reaction which is within my head and my way of working with them seems to be absent. I was a lead over launch operations in the Data communications systems. The techs, engineers, and others have hollered at me to come back. I say no! I’m not going back. I’m seventy and I want to rest.

Just a little more tidbits of useless nonsense.

Eh, well, I'm sure they don't get out much. Heck, they probably envy you for your sense of adventure. Knowing all is well in your world, I'll sleep much better tonight.

All is well. Just watching the news, editing a little bit. (UGH)

I’m waiting for Dennis to poke his head onto the west coast. I have friends there. The east coast where I am should be okay. Snug as a bug in a rug. Got gas in the car, money in my pocket, booze in the fridge, and a smile on my face. No boredom here.
