I moved recently and the nearest post office is now over thirty minutes away. (It used to be in walking distance.) I am out of postage and envelops and am thinking about ordering them all online this time around. Unfortunately, I cannot find any media mail rates on USPS.com. Is media mail only available in the post office? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the link, but it doesn't answer the question. The links take you back to the generic forms for mailing packages and there isn't a media mail option. I will call the post office and ask about this.

Standard Media Mail Rates

I ship packages almost every day. Here are some media mail rates:

1 pound package, CA to NY $2.41.

2 pound package, CA to MO $2.76.

4 pound package, CA to NV $3.46.

Keep in mind that the postal rates are going up soon - I think that's going to happen this month.

Remember that if you put regular stamps on your packages that are more than a pound, you can't drop them into a blue mailbox. The packages have to be handed to a mail carrier or passed over the counter inside the post office for security reasons.

If you use online preprinted postage, you are supposed to be able to drop packages of any size into a blue mailbox, but if you check out my rant on another message thread, I believe that my last manuscript is going to be returned to me because of a mailman not understanding the postal regulations.

I think it is only available fromthe actual PO. I used to ship tons of books, and always visited the building with my pkgs. I know there is a way to get a postman to pick up your parcels for you so you don't have to lug it in, but I don't think media mail is included. You should as at the post office though. The customer service should have the correct information.

I live out in the country. I place money for the stamps in an evelope the post office provides and get my stamps that way.. Any thing else I have to drive 12 miles to the post office.

The PO confirmed that sending media mail from home does require a home postage machine. I'm going through my accounts to see if my mailings justify the expense...
