Star Trek Online was going to be like this originally. I believe the face-to-face application is much more appropriate.

I love stuff like this. I wouldn't call it 'truly original' but it's certainly something new. Definitely to be embraced in a gaming world where 'game innovation' is synonymous with 'finding cover'.

I was recently recruited to play this with a bunch of friends. And it was amazing! I don't even like Star Trek, but it was perfect.

Actually, it does sound fun, but not with random strangers, as it would mostly be if STO had been like this, since I don't know enough people who'd be interested.

Ha! Yeah, I hear you. I'm also one of those odd birds that prefers to solo his MMOs.

It certainly had some potential for fun. That said, I'm glad they went with the usual model of everyone being a captain.
