The new Godzilla.
Dunno why everyone hated it. Stayed true to the Godzilla I remember from childhood Saturday mornings when it was raining, and they had--wooot--Godzilla marathon.

I saw The Maze Runner last night. It was good. :)

(This is coming from someone who hasn't read the series.)

AAAAAAUUUUGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!

Just watched Rigor Mortis. (link goes to imdb)

Freaky. Different. Extreme (horror-wise). Grim. Good enough that I stopped transcribing and gave it all my attention.

And the ending RUINED it! RUINED! I screamed at the screen. NOnonononono!

Caveat: The title was a giant sledgehammer of a hint.

AAAAUUUGGGHHH!

The Giver. It was ok, certainly better than the reviews l had read. Luckily, I read the book so long ago that I barely remembered a thing.

Jack Ryan, Shadow Recruit

I enjoyed the movie but wondered about the timeline. It seems to take place at a later time in the move than the very first novel, Hunt for the Red October.

I also didn't notice if Tom Clancy had anything to do with it.

The Maze Runner.

Griever guts are gross. That's all I'm saying.

(That, and Hollywood needs to make a new incarnation of Lord of the Flies with this exact cast. Now.)

The Maze, an old BW Richard Carlson horror.

After an hour and 20 minutes, the creature reveal is... A guy in a giant toad suit who makes a noise like an elephant.

Getting there was fun. Good classic horror, a little science, a little mystery, a sweet young thing told by the grizzled old caretaker "Ye shouldna go in thar" and still wanders around at night and gets to scream her head off. It even has a narrator! Recommended.

The Master. Fine acting for sure, especially Juaquin Phoenix, but. . .

The movie was like the soundtrack: surprising at the beginning, interesting, but, by the end--irritating.

Oddly disappointing.

EDGE OF TOMORROW - I liked it, but I'm a sucker for time-loop / paradoxes stuff anyway. I thought it was Cruise's best movie for some time, the beach landing sequences were very well done and it was nice to see Bill Paxton doing his jive. It dragged a wee bit towards the end, and Brendan Gleeson was severely underused, but overall it's a thumbs up from me.

Under the Skin. I'm a little let down it deviated from the novel so much, but it was pretty captivating either way.

Pumping Iron, the first docudrama as far as I know. Interesting to think about how much bodybuilding has changed since then. Synthol, HGH, insulin -- not even Arnold could compete today.

This Is Where I Leave You. There were a few things I didn't like, but on the whole it was fantastic.

I saw that this weekend as well, I was also a fan. I particularly enjoy movies that don't end with everything wrapped neatly in a bow.

I've been looking for more independent horror films to watch and last night I stumbled on Stake Land on Netflix. The narration was a little heavy handed at times, but I ultimately enjoyed it. I highly recommend it for fans of vampire flicks and/or dystopian themes.

Ender's Game. Never read the book but man...the movie was REALLY good. I thought the actor who played Ender was GREAT.
