Hello. In the nonfiction section I posted a thread about ghostwriting, but got a response to come here and look into it. Do any of you freelance writers also do ghostwriting? What about writing biographies or nonfiction books on a specif subject? I like the idea of being a freelancer but I'm not sure what all my options would be. Part of my long term writing goals include writing books. Any feedback is appreciated.

I've ghostwritten several books and only got the work because I knew writers, publishers and editors, I had a good reputation with those people, and they knew from my previous work that I would turn in a good enough book.

If you don't have a track record you'd probably find it easier to get books published under your own name.

I've only ghostwritten a few small pieces and although it's nice to have work and get paid, I don't find it very satisfying. Just my two bits (and I am free to admit I'm an attention whore which is probably my whole problem with it).
