I have a PhD in zoology.

Areas where I claim some expertise:
--- zoology, esp. invertebrate biology
--- rainforests
--- Australian and SE Asian natural history

Quite specific, but you never know when any of that might come in useful.

Doing a degree in Media and a degree in Law. I believe I could help with both (though my knowledge in Law is quite limited).

Very good with films, music (any genre), TV show, travelling (especially Europe).
Quite good with Philosophy, Psychology (mainly Freud) and Sociology, Medieval History and most Mythologies.
I live in Israel and studied a lot about the Middle East and Judaism (from the Bible to the Holocaust, anything goes).

There are some SMART people here!

Holler at me if you want to know about food service and retail (20+ years experience as a grunt worker all the way to middle management).

I was born and raised in New Orleans.

I lived, breathed, ate, and slept MTV in the early and mid 80s. The amount of 80s music trivia that I know is borderline obscene.

Count me in as another who moved across the country for love. (I actually submitted that story to this year's Writer's Digest contest)

I am married to someone who lives, eats and breaths comic books and graphic novels.

Well I work in admin at a British University if anyone needs to know about regulations here.

Also general UK culture.

And I'm quite phobic of things -- needles and hospitals -- if anyone needs a POV on that.

-Life in modern-day Russia(live there), politics, culture, language, etc.
-Russian/Soviet history
-WWII military history, US/German/Red Army(I have access to sources on British, French, Italian, Japanese, etc. sources)
-Firearms from matchlocks to modern
-Eastern Europe(particularly Prague as I lived there for a while), Turkey
-US domestic terrorism, extremist groups, and all sorts of unsavory baddies from that realm which may factor into your novel.
-US Army life(to be sure I got out a long time ago and I've seen that much has changed over the years. But if you want to make a VERY realistic scene of army life which holds true for any period, have your soldiers standing around waiting for something, bored as hell.)
-Islamic culture.

If you have questions about any of these topics feel free to message me. If I don't know the specific answer I usually have access to sources where I can find what you're looking for.

Traditional Chinese Culture, Twinhood

I would be more than happy to help folks with aspects of traditional Chinese culture, especially with reference to the Qing Dynasty through today.

And, while I don't want to appear pedantic (but surely failing) ... I'm talking Mainland China in particular. I can discuss Taiwan with some certainty, but Hong Kong & Singapore & Straits Chinese cultures can differ markedly.

I do know something about the Straits Chinese culture in Malaysia, however.

"And now for something completely different":

I am an identical twin, and can discuss the good, bad & indifferent aspects of twinhood.

Miscellany: U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; the national cemetery system; Hawaii (especially plants & native uses for them); dachshunds; Voice of America international broadcasting; teaching English in China in the 1980s; Asian teas.

What do I know about? Let's see:
Small town weekly newspapers (I write for one);
Graduate school for MA in English (I went, I loved it, I wish the job market was better);
Life in a southern town or small city (I've lived in several);
Cats (I have four and write about animals a lot);
Life as a military spouse (my husband deployed for 15 months less than a month after we married);
Husband is a gunsmith, so he can help me with gun-related answers;
Maybe I'll think for more later. :)

Medicine - I'm a practicing anesthesiologist, with about a decade of experience. I've worked in two major hospitals, both of which were referral centers for a variety of ills. As such, I've got a lot of knowledge about the more complex aspects of surgical care (trauma, transplantation, high risk obstetrical, neurosurgery, pediatrics, ICU, post-operative care).
