Argh! The light bulb in my bedroom blew overnight, and now that I can see what I'm doing to try to change it, it refuses to be changed.

There's one of those fishbowl type covers over the light, with a single screw holding the cover on. Do you think I can get the screw to come out? No!

Way ahead of you.

I have been alternately using pliers or fingers... The pliers basically strip the grip on the screw. (It's got a plastic head - the screw that is.)

So if I strip too much of it, I'll never get the damn thing off.

It might be... hammer time!

I don't see any other way I'm possibly going to get this cover off...

I don't even know which way it's supposed to turn! It doesn't budge in any direction. The stupid thing? I was the one who tightened it in the first place, last time I changed the bulb.

*headdesk*

I've now moved on to trying to move it with paper towel between my fingers and the grip. It's not helping move it, but it's making my fingers hurt less. :)

Aha! I solved the problem! I are genius! :tongue

Okay, so the fishbowl cover is in 2 parts, right. There's the glass bowl with the screw, then a plastic upper part where it screws in.

So I thought, "Hey, I wonder if I can twist the glass part and unscrew it that way?"

And it WORKED! Woo!

So I got the cover off, changed the bulb, and then tried to remove the screw now that it wasn't screwed into anything. It won't budge. It's somehow attached to the glass part, and won't budge.

I think it's time to leave the glass part OFF my light fitting. :tongue

Anyway, gotta get ready for Uni. Thanks for the help Funners. :)

Print this page out for next time you have to change the lightbulb.

G'night, my f&f friends. :)
