I thought I recognized the name, durian?

Isn't it a fruit that is kind of prickly on the outside and the inside tastes and smells like molding food? Sounds good :)

Can you get litchis in Oregon? Sometimes it's spelled lychees or leetchis.

We love them. They're sweet and they smell perfumey.

Yes, I've had them in a drink before, but not straight up. Lychees? I think maybe is what they call em...I'd know it if I saw it.

I could live anywhere in Oregon, I think. My mother lived in Everett, Washington for 15 years and LOVED it until she got too old for the Northwestern winters and moved to LA.

Sydney is right about durian. Nothing like lychees which I love just as much.

I don't think you get either in Oregon but you get apricots and peaches and berries in the summer. Lots of them. Yum!!!

Evening Funners. :)

It's HOT up here in the Riverland. And I did jump in the pool for a while.

*yawn* I'm sleepy, but this is the first opportunity I've had for some alone time in, like, 12 hours.

Good Afternoon House of Fruits.

Fruit is nice. So is Giant Covalent Structures.

Headaches are not nice.

Horses are nice, I like horses. And dogs, and cats (not the missbehaving type), and birds too. I also like Fridays. And coffee, and a bunch of other things. Maybe we should start a club. I could be the boss and I could rule over you people with a rubber cane. Just a thought.

Hi archerbird. Surely cats do not misbehave? Only hoomins do.

Sounds like the lyrics of a classic song. Do you also like brown paper packages tied up with string?

Never had lychees either, but I'm intrigued. My grocery store has an exotic fruits section, so I'll have to look for lychees now. :)

Nice!

I've seen canned lychees but never tasted those. The fresh one's are so nice. But if you can only get the canned lychees it's certainly worth a try.

Oooh, I can just taste now - mostly sweet and very juicy, sometimes with a slightly tart after taste. Firm flesh gives a lovely texture and the juicyness makes it most refreshing. Perfect summer fruit.

Thanks for posting a pic, now I know what to look for. Is there a lychee "season"?

Yes, they're a summer fruit. Our greengrocers and supermarkets are getting them in now. If you can get some, please let us know what you think of them.

Good morning House of exotic fruits. :D

On the eve of the Superbowl, I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm thinking more of the delicious junk that I'm going to partake of on Sunday. All washed down with ice cold frosties. *burp*

That gave me an idea for what to bring to the Superbowl party. I wonder how good lychees would taste with hot wings...

#1. Andrew Zimmern rocks - Although he eats some things that make me gag just looking at 'em

#2. Durian smells and tastes like monkey butt (at least that's what the Muppet told me)

#3. *Wonders if Swachiski is bringing lychees to MY Super Bowl party?*

#4. TGIF - Is it Sunday yet? :partyguy:
