I need beta readers for my latest WIP, Final Kiss at Seven (working title). The novel is about 88K words and is the second in a three-volume series featuring a "soft-boiled" detective as the MC. The first in the series, On the Street Where You Die, is already on Kindle. If you wish to read that one, too, I'll include a copy in the eBook format that you prefer. I do want to ensure that the second in the series stands alone and that it doesn't assume that the reader knows things presented in the first.

You'll also be reading a smaller fictional memoir of about 20K words, a book within a book titled Confessions of a Cat Burglar.

The novel and the memoir stand alone, but they are closely integrated, too. I need to ensure consistency beween the two as well as anything else a reader wishes to comment on about the works.

The main novel will be self-epublished on KDP. The memoir will be a free PDF download unless someone convinces me that it should be distributed differently.

Send me a PM with your email if you wish to be a beta reader.

Following is the latest attempt at the novel's blurb.

Somebody has taken a shot at Stanley Bentworth in a hit-and-run drive-by, and the detective doesn’t know who wants him dead or why. Then, when a man who resembles Stanley is gunned down in broad daylight, Stanley wonders whether the intended victim was himself or the dead double he never met.

The former homicide detective finds himself unwillingly drawn into this particular murder case when Georgia, his double’s widow, asks Stanley to take the case. She believes that her stepsons, motivated by a corporate coup, are the killers and that now they are after her. The cops have rejected her theory and told her that Stanley is the likely target because he has enemies, and because the brothers have an alibi.

If Stanley takes the case, he puts himself back in the line of fire. But if he fails to crack it, Georgia could be next on the list.

His investigation charts an unlikely journey into the worlds of online pornography, an infamous cat burglar, and buried treasure. In the process, he learns about a long-ago legacy that he never knew was meant for him.

Bump. Not getting a lot of response. Got one beta reader. Need a couple more.

Work a trade? I'll do yours if you'll do mine.

I wanted to use the title, Dead Ringer, but it's been used to death. Pun intended.

I'm new here, but I'll look at it. I read a first chapter that you posted in SYW and enjoyed your style. I'm working on a fiction/humor (sort of Carl Hiaasen style humor) maybe you could look at some chapters in the future for me?

I'll try to send a PM with my email address.
