I searched for list of viking names and list of viking kings when I went a-looking for Viking names for mein Norse epic. They were fond of nicknames, as is noted in the Sagas.

Lol oh yeah, sure were. My fave for Odin is Ennibrattr - 'the one with the straight forehead'

You've got some good advice / links here for your names. Just make sure you don't use one that leaps out and smacks people in the nose having been prominent in the sagas etc.

Nicknames sometimes went by contraries: a man with swarthy skin might be called 'the fair'; an unusually tall man might be nicknamed 'the short'.
