It may just be me, but I find the many and varied acronyms used very confusing!

Some that spring to mind are, YA (Which I now know stands for Young Adult), MG, WIP, NANO... the list seems endless!

Is there a list anywhere explaining what the various Acronyms mean.. if not, could one be created :D?

Thanks in Advance.

Yup. It's in a sticky in this forum, right above your post.

Here's a link: http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59010

ETA (edited to add): That link is for publishing industry terms, not forum terms. I know those definitions are here somewhere, I just don't know where. I'm sure someone will be along shortly with the answer, though.

MG=middle grade
NANO=NaNoWriMO=National Novel Writing Month=November
WIP=work in progress

ETA2: Yay, Maryn! :)

Gavin, unless you have a decoder ring, it can be difficult--until you read the AW Dictionary, which explains all.

I still see the occasional acronym I can't figure out--RYFW (respect your fellow writer) was the most recent--but this should get you started, at least. And it's always okay to ask the person who used an acronym what it means, via reputation point.

Maryn, pleased to meet you

It's a big place, Gavin. We're glad to point you where you need to go, and sometimes we'll walk you part of the way, too.

Maryn, waxing metaphorical
