Now that I have arrived, I'm sure everybody will come in and greet me warmly, like an Italian fashionista.

We got slush today. About 3 inches of it, to be exact. But, as it compacted it became about 2 inches of ice and some melted. The roads were full of black ice because apparently nobody realized that it gets cold at night and slush is wet. So if you plow, you leave a thin layer of ice on the roads.

Work was a ghost-town because so many people never showed up.

On the plus side, I got over whatever it was that was making my tummy not so good. That's a nice way of putting it, by the way. It seems the cheese I ate took me over the lactose-line and got me good. I can eat dairy, just not too much in a certain period of time.

I might get some writing done tonight, too.

Sorry about the exam issues. I've heard of crazy stuff like that before. One professor in some philosophy class thought it would be fun to make the final a single question. "Why?" And the answers were graded by how long they were. One sentence was an A, and on down the line.

I've never actually greeted an Italian fashionista before, Ted, so I have no basis for comparison.

I've been in places in Korea and Japan where the options were deal with it or smell like an American that has been hiking for days in the summertime. You get used to it. It's like most things that assault your senses when you first arrive, you get used it, then you understand it. Then you properly hate it and everything about it and you do what I did. I sent a long letter home and on one page scrawled in crayon "Exterminate the Brutes". Kinda lost it for a while.

I woke up this morning with a very sore throat (the kind when your nose is draining) and every muscle in my body tied in knots. The funeral is at 11 so after that I'm coming back to the hotel to soak in a hot, steamy bath. We're staying one more night so tomorrow I should be back to proper civilization.
