HI everyone,
CBeasy was in a accident on Wed. the 28th..he was involved in an accident at work and badly burned. His hands are the worst burned. I am sitting next to him in the hospital next to him right now as he is telling me what to write.
He is having surgery on Thursday. Hopefully sometime soon he will regain the use hands enough to individually message those of you who are his close friends.
Please just wish him luck and he will try to pop up on the board as soon as he can.
Thank you all!
CBeasys mom

Well, on the bright side, he won't be doing anything that could make him go blind for a while. So I guess that's good.

Hope you're up and about soon.

Hey CBeasy --

I am so sorry to hear about your accident. We all wish you a speedy recovery. I know it must be difficult sitting in the hospital while waiting for surgery, but this will give you an opportunity to think of a good story -- about the accident and all -- and spend time with mom. I'll send positive thoughts your way.

Get well soon!

Jon

Yikes! Well, we all know that accidents totally suck and shouldn't happen to us and ours, but sometimes they do anyway. Best wishes for 100% surgical success and a quick recovery.

(And thanks, Mom, for being the conduit. Hope we'll see you again, because every mom here would do no less if it's humanly possible.)

And here's something to occupy the mind as you both await the surgery:

(This “test” was distributed to 7th and 8th graders in a gifted students program in 1998, to be taken for fun, brainstorm with friends, etc. Its origin and date of creation are unknown; the students received a multi-generational copy of a copy. It may be quite old, as evidenced by #29, which dates to 1954, #25 (1962), and #19, long out of use. The students uniformly objected to the phrasing of #21.)

This is a test to gauge your mental flexibility and creativity. In the three years since it has been developed, it has been found that few people could solve more than half on the first day. Many reported getting answers long after the test had been set aside, at unexpected moments when their minds were relaxed, and some reported solving it over a period of days.

Example:
16 O in a P Answer: 16 Ounces in a Pound
Freebie:
#29: 7 B for S B Answer: 7 Brides for Seven Brothers (1954 film)

Scoring (working alone): 1-5 is average, 6-11 excellent

1. 26 L of the A
2. 7 D of the W
3. 1001 A N
4. 12 S of the Z
5. 54 C in a D (with J)
6. 9 P in the S S
7. 88 P K
8. 13 S of the A F
9. 32 D at which W F
10. 18 H on a G C
11. 90 D in a R A
12. 200 D for P G in M
13. 8 S on a S S
14. 3 B M (S H T R)
15. 4 Q in a G
16. 24 H in a D
17. 1 W on a U
18. 5 D in a Z C
19. 57 H V
20. 11 P on a F B T
21. 1000 W that a P is W
22. 29 D in F in a L Y
23. 64 S on a C B
24. 40 D and N of the G F
25. 76 T led the B P
26. 60 S in a M
27. 1 H on a U
28. 9 J on the S C
29. 7 B for S B
30. 21 D on a D
31. 7 W of the W

Maryn, who promises she'll share the answers--later
