"Over the Edge" excerpt on Gail Bridges blog.

Today on my blog, I'm sharing the first sneak peek of my work-in-progress, Over the Edge, a full-length erotic horror novel to be published by Ellora's Cave in their "Shivers" line. I've posted an excerpt of the opening pages.

The blurb:

Dahlia is a novice Healer who is accepted into a mysterious school in Seattle that teaches Curative Touch - only to realize too late that she and the other students are being used as a Guinea Pigs for newly-adult Sex Demons who are in training in the usage of their own powers. But Dahlia has done the forbidden: She's fallen in love with her Demon instructor and unearthed the truth.

The blog: Gail's Place

Do stop in for a visit, I'm serving Oreo cookies.

Hi, bloggers (waves)

I have a LiveJournal account that I haven't really used and I am considering blogging, but I'm a little bit worried that it will become and end in itself and eat into the time I should be spending editing my work and sending out query letters.

What are the overall professional advantages of blogging, if one is not as of yet a published writer (and hence has no following based on readership thereof, etc)? Is it generally the case that one can attract a readership via blogging and then that becomes your "platform", in part, as far as having a potential readership for the book when it does get published? (Will any agent be favorably impressed or otherwise care that you have a blog that a couple hundred or so people read and comment on?)

I can't speak for everyone, but I use it to connect with other writers in the writing community. I also hope to communicate with readers through it one day, a place they can go to find more information about my books and such. As far as agents go, I don't think they are swayed one way or the other. They just want an awesome book to sell by an awesome client.
