Hounding After Hours

Where's all the hounds tonight? It's not a full moon is it?

I was just over posting my piece in the Flash Fiction Challenge. Not really thrilled with it but it'll do.

How are you feeling, Night?

I'm here. Just torn between hoping for a snow day, and hoping the warning is all hype.

You were begging for snow, weren't you bos...like a couple of weeks ago?

I'm okay Abby. Sore, still have a chest infection, a bit weak. But I managed to go to the dollar store today and get some stuff. Tomorrow I really need to make it to get my pain pills filled. Right now I just overdose on flu night time medicine to get the pain to go away.

That was back in February.

Not the end of April.


Even for us, this is very unusual.

And, just in case it is hype and doesn't prevent me from going to work, I'm going to bed.

Two weeks ago/February...same thing.

It was cooler here today too, but it's expected to be in the 80s the rest of this week. We had no real winter or spring to speak of.

My rewrite of my old short story "Knock On Wood" hit 4700 words tonight. It needed serious rewrite though. It's still the same story just with a lot more characterization and activity thrown in. I'm kind've excited about the rewrite.

On a lighter note, I told my friend Erika that I was going to bring her dinner this coming Wednesday and asked if steak was all right. Her response was enthusiastic, almost as if she missed something (I haven't been able to take her the weekly special lunches I did for awhile for almost 3 or 4 weeks now). Hot and cold syndrome maybe?

Maybe DL won't sic her gremlins on me this week if I can hit 5k new words for Knock On Wood by tomorrow.

Yeah, I didn't think so either.

Yeah, no. Gremlins are kind of in her job description.

And, alas, I am at work. No snow day here, despite my fervently wishing for it.

Not too bad. But I go back to work tomorrow night, not sure if I'm up to it, yet.

If there's a snow day tomorrow, I may well be upset. Tomorrow is not an early class day for me.

I hit 5 thousand words on my rewrite of "Knock On Wood" this afternoon with about a thousand words left to edit/rewrite. This story might end up at double the first version's size.

You'd think this forum was a writer's forum as much as you talk about writing, Greg.

Drat! Now I gotta' find new digs.
