Thanks, OH, that makes sense. When you say you should strike out the printed name, though, are you referring to the scenarios above with pseudonyms? I can't see that there would be a problem with signing the title page with the same name as the the printed name? (or perhaps I'm still not really understanding - it happens...)

I only suggested crossing out the printed version of the name because if you leave it there, the title page says "Important Book written by Old Hack [printed] Old Hack [written in]"

It's an unneeded repetition. And yes, I am notoriously pedantic!
