Rejection today. Same form as others, but very polite. Can't say she isn't quick!

I didn't even think she accepted queries, but given that she sold "Psych Major Syndrome," I'd love to query her once I get edited.

Here's my update.

Laura had asked me to let her know if another agent offered rep. Another agent did not offer rep, but rather, asked for revisions via email. I went back and forth on this for a little while, and finally decided to let Laura know that I was planning on revising for the other agent.

Laura responded by telling me she really liked my novel, outlining her own revision request (the details of which, I'm going to get when she sends me a hard copy of my manuscript with notes from her and her freelance editor), and offering to talk on the phone.

So we talked, I sounded like a bit of an idiot, probably, but that's okay. No offer of rep yet, but she wants to talk again, once I get the hard copy and have a chance to read it over.

To be honest, I'm not nearly as excited as I thought I would be. Laura seems fantastic, of course, but from what I've read the majority of revise and resubmit requests don't end in offers of rep. I will try to take my time, and we'll see what comes out of it. Keep rooting for me guys!

Even if they don't work for the original requester, sometimes those R&Rs end up selling to someone else soon afterward, though. Good luck!

Hmmm, I emailed her a whole hour ago and haven't heard back yet.
Clearly she's not well.

Don't think that. I can't say what the percentage is, but many revision requests result in representation. It did for me. It's just sometimes people think that if an agent requests revisions then it's basically an offer, and it isn't always the case. But I don't think it's a "majority" situation. You might just hear about the lack of requests more because people want to put things into perspective and not get the author too excited.

My point is, don't think one way or the other. Just keep on keeping on, and enjoy the experience of getting to work with someone to make your MS awesome.

A year ago, I queried late at night & received a rejection 15 minutes later. Tonight, after a lot of agonizing, I decided to do it again with my revamped YA novel, offering an explanation about the older query, just in case. I also took a chance and included 4 pages.

It's been a half hour and no rejection yet. Dare I hope?
