YOUSE ON SAN MORTA / GEEK BOCCIE / HELPLERST

1. Song / Artist / Composer
2. Very much in the theme.
3. The artist is one of many who have recorded the song.
4. In some versions, 5 additional words are added to the title in parenthesis.
5. The spelling of one word in the title is American. Sometimes the British spelling is used.

"GREEN IS THE COLOR", by Pink Floyd, doesn't work. Still trying. :D

Okay, this one *is* obscure... so I'll give a few clues

LEE HID THAT RED BACKWARDEEL RACE / LITHHHH PILE
- song / artist
- song subject is someone who does the theme one better: not merely a wig!
- artist is from Nymtoc's part of the world. His last name would indicate he might live in a Kitchen that never freezes :D

THE KID WITH THE REPLACEABLE HEAD / RICHARD HELL

I was about to turn in for the night but thought I'd give it one more try, and...Voilà!

HOT NELLY PEG / IRENIE H’AEEUA

1. Play / Playwright
2. It's an easy one, but the theme continues

3. The title refers to the main character, but in the last scene, a real one appears.

THE HAIRY APE / EUGENE O'NEILL

Almost 20 years ago, as a very young intern with a big law firm, I went to The Hairy Ape with a bunch of the firm's partners. Found it quite depressing. Then found it terribly hard not to snicker during the very artistically important ending scene in which an entirely naked man [a not-particularly-hairy ape] climbed and cavorted about inside a big cage which had been dragged onstage.

Oh dear. I just went back a couple of pages in this thread to find out what the "theme" is, and it seems I've crashed a two-person party. I hope you don't mind very much.

Anyway, now that I'm here, I'll make my feeble attempt at a puzzle:

RAVEN POOP / NACHIRRLY RIAHIA

Book / Author

Clue: This generated a controversy a little over a decade ago.

:welcome: to this thread, lyael!

It is by no means a two-person party. The more players the better. Please continue to play.

Re: The Hairy Ape. I've never seen it, but bringing off that last scene must be difficult for any theatrical troupe. There was a low-budget movie adaptation in the 1940s, which won kudos for William Bendix, who played the main character, but I haven't seen that either.

A word of caution: This game is addictive.

Thanks for the welcome, Nymtoc :)

<<A word of caution: This game is addictive.>> I can already see this.

Re: My puzzle. Is there a particular amount of time after which I should post more clues?

Lyael, you can post new clues any time you want. If you think people are struggling with your scramble, post as many clues as you wish. In the past week or so, there haven't been many people playing, which may explain why you haven't gotten many bites on your scramble so far.

However, I could use a new clue or two. ;)

Clues: 1. A teacher's reading of this generated a controversy a little over a decade ago.
2. It sticks with the theme (I hope...never was very good at discerning themes :) )
3. The title does not refer to Brits' swaddling.

NAPPY HAIR / CAROLIVIA HERRON

Good one, lyael! It does stick with the theme, but these "themes" of ours are very informal. Ignore them if you feel so inclined. :)

I won't be able to post again for a couple of hours, so if anyone wants to start a new scramble, feel free. :snoopy:

I CIRHMFY H5 CAN RULE / ROLOS

1. Song / Band
2. Same old theme
3. You'll do better on this one if you prefer British spelling. ;)

5 Colours in Her Hair / McFly

Boy bands rock! I have to run a kid to lacrosse practice. I'll try to put up another one when I get back. Unless someone else has one ready :)

Thanks :) The "5" was key, of course.

OK...

CHILLEN OLD DAWGS / SMITHIE ACLUCKAN

Song / Singer and songwriter

1. The homographic homophone of this title word would have fit the theme.
2. When a well-known artist covered this song, he seems to have dropped a letter from its title.

AX KEY LYN KARATE / WEIGH

1. Song / Band
2. The theme continues in the band's name.
3. However, the name is ambiguous, and I'm guessing the band had a different meaning in mind.
4. There is a sports connection.
