We've voted for January - The Time Travelers Wife.... now let's throw some names out there for February so that those who may need more time to pick up the book, will have time.

Too soon?

I'm suggesting The Tortilla Curtain by T. C. Boyle

Gimme your suggested reading for February titles!!!

Lets vote next week?

WFE makes the polls for Feb by default. It's the law. My law.
It's clearly a favored title, so yea. ;)

So that nobody gets confused...I'll always begin my threads with "online book group..." and then .... what ever is going on. So...you VIXEY should have no problem keeping in the loop. ;)

Personally, I wouldn't want to dig through the same thread to get the up to the minute information such as suggestions and voting....so I'll clearly tag my threads with the appropriate purpose of said thread.

Is WFE the one with the albino?

If it is, then THAT is the book who's fault it is that I find albinos incredibly sexy and want to read more about them.

Er, no, wait, that was Ghost Boy. Nevermind.

Are we looking more for stand alone books or do we want to give books of a series the green light. Obviously I'll be throwing out the first book, but I just wanted to get some opinions on that.

I don't see the problem in that. We could either

a) end up voting for the book and love it so much we on buy the rest of the series and read on our own time

or

b) vote in the rest of the series and read them together.

The problem with this, is we're stuck in that genre. And the odds of everybody (or a chunk of us) being willing to read a genre we're not familiar with is unikely.

I know I wouldn't want to read a Sci-Fi series, or a Horror series, or a Chick Lit series.

I'm rambling, I know.

My copy of Atonement (Ian McEwan) is sitting with its shiny cover just waiting to be read....I've seen the movie but I've been told that it left out so much narrative that it just doesn't compare to the experience of the novel. So that's my suggestion for the month!

The Confessions of Max Tivoli by Andrew Sean Greer

This book is a diamond in the rough, and is another one that i think kinda appeals to both men and women. It's about a man who lives his life backwards. He looks like a 70 year old when he is born and slowly ages backwards over his lifetime. He falls in love with a girl whom he meets at 3 different intervals in his life, trying to win her love. Awesome read and I'd love to give it another read. :)

I'd actually like to read 3 of the possible titles, but I only currently own one of them - so umm, yea.
