Yeah. On that note, I'd prefer to keep most of the books read as paperback, just for the cost aspect (much like jennifer, I owe our library a good bit of money, lol).
Yea, no new releases.

Off topic alert:
Our library has one day a month where you can turn in overdue books and pay with canned goods for the food bank. It doesn't matter how overdue they are.
Yea, no new releases.
Indeed. There's so many great books out there written 10, 20, or 30 years ago that we shouldn't need to rely on new releases.
Or I could just apply for a new library card... now that I'm at a new address.
Agreed. So Jennifer, do you have a list to post yet? I admit I haven't been keeping track, though I've read all the posts. I'm aware of what's been mentioned.
And thanks for suggesting this! Great idea!
The Time Traveller's Wife - Audrey Niffenegger
Great timing! This is next on my to-read list. I'm in.
I suggest Amy Tan's "Saving Fish From Drowning" because (1) I've just borrowed it from the library, and (2) Amy Tan is brilliant.
Well, there's been only a few titles thrown out there, and most of us seem to agree on one (Time Travelers Wife) - I'd like to keep it as fair as possible, and since we're only in the first week of December, maybe keep the suggestions coming another week before we officially vote on a title for January.
Thoughts?
I suggest Toni Morrison's "A Mercy."
It's new, topical, likely a good read.
jus' sayin...
My suggestion would be to take a few more suggestions and then throw them in a new thread with a poll option. That way everyone would be able to see the titles, look into them a little if they wanted, and then make their vote. That seems to be the fairest way to do this. And then, if none of them strike your fancy, you can abstain from voting and thereby abstain from reading that month.
Sounds like the simplest, most elegant solution to that.
Well Which is it Kudra! You can't choose 2!!!
Ok, so now we should think about how we want the discussion boards to go..... do we want to just flow naturally with our thoughts and questions and complaints, or do we want to base our discussion on reading group guide questions?
I'm kinda for both.
Thoughts?
I can't say for sure, because I've never participated in an online book group, but I think I'd tend to post in one thread instead of two. It would be too much for me to keep track of.
Maybe I can post the questions, and we can do both - answer with our thoughts, and then share unrelated thoughts and arguements. I'd like to see some sort of structure, because personally if I'm not asked, I may not remember something that would have made a good conversation. So, maybe we'll do both.
How tough would it be to do both and do a thread for each? That way we could have a place for both. I'm not sure, it may just be a better idea to do the discussion questions and let those act as springboards.
EGGSACTLY.I agree.
I'm also in favor of letting the conversation go freely. It would be a good idea to post the questions, but then discuss without any specific framework.
